Update: lost a star from me because of service last time I was here (prepandemic). Placed an order to go while we were dining in a little over halfway through the meal. When I finished and paid the bill, my party and I waited for them to bring our to go order. And waited. And waited. They were busy so I didn't want to pester them, but I finally gave up after 15 min and asked about my order. Apparently it was left and the front counter and was just sitting there getting cold and the server wasn't apologetic. I do this quite often when my entire family can't go out and this has never happened anywhere else that I can remember. I've only been back once since, but this dropped off my list of regular choices in CV.
For Castro Valley, this is a great option for sushi as well as having other menu options like Chinese. It's great if you're in the mood for Asian food, but just not sure from where. It's usually pretty packed in here and gets REAL loud, so don't expect a reserved...
Read moreI just wanted a light dinner so I ordered a Chinese chicken salad. It was just a clump of lettuce on the bottom and strips of deep fried battered chicken (?) (very chewy and dry) laid on the top. There were a few scattered crunchy bits added. $9.60 I took it back and they were nice enough to make something else. I tried a garlic chicken with vegetables. What I got was some thinly sliced chicken (?) again very chewy. Maybe it’s a fake chicken ? I don’t know but it couldn’t have been 100% chicken meat. It was sort of textured dense and rubbery like. It was mixed in with a bunch of chopped celery, lemon grass and white onion that was it. It was truly just awful. I’ve had better food at Panda! At least the chicken is 100% moist chicken and the vegetables are fresh and had something besides celery & onion! Not sure what was...
Read moreThis has been on of my favorite Asian fusion spots for years. Once again, during quarantine I ordered about $60 plus dollars worth of food to go, and I was not happy with the taste or quality of the food. I ordered the Thai style chicken wings, they were really small pieces, and the batter was white instead of the golden brown color fried chicken should have. I called and explained my concern to the manager, they said it's because they changed the grease. What??? Does that mean that they don't usually change it. It doesn't make sense. Then, the cream cheese and crab wontons were overcooked, and the chow mein noodles were super bland even with the few pieces of flavorless meats they put in it. The salad had a lot of old lettuce in it, the wontons were stale in the salad. Oh well, another one to cross off the list for...
