Nick The Greek — Restaurant in Castro Valley

after months of anticipation Nick the Greek CV is open yay!! We got there and line was almost going out the door. The service was excellent and super fast! We don't eat cheese and requested no feta on our dishes and this was respected. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious! Bathrooms super clean and sanitizer stands throughout the restaurant. Staff was so friendly and we left with full bellies smiles 😃 since Google won't let me add images captions we had the Prasini salad which depth of flavor can't be seen in photos, lemon, dill, scallion and crispy romaine, also the Falafel pita which was very flavor-filled, the Veggie pita was our favorite with meaty portabello mushrooms and perfectly grilled zucchini. I have to say I’ve been eating here sometimes over 5 times a week for that last few months but that stops today. I ordered online and went in to pick up my food and didn’t realize until I got home that the fries were gummy/under cooked. I usually would not return them but they were basically inedible. When I tried to exchange them a woman that looks like maybe the manager as I’ve never seen her there before proceeded to question me and feel through the French fries as if I was lying and then told the cook to make them well done. I didn’t ask for well done just that they were cooked. I feel this was condescending especially since when I opened them the fries were now unsalted and OVERCOOKED aka hard as a rock. Seems small but how you treat your customers matters....

Not authentic given they put french fries in the Gyro but it's pretty darn good. Technically, potatoes and tomatoes for that matter are from the Americas.

I'm still looking to replace my Gyro place that closed that I would have given 5 stars but this one is nearby and pleases my taste buds.

First is having the right meat and then it's tzatziki sauce. The other ingredients can vary. Lettuce and onion with the Asian influence of onions and the American influence of tomatoes (and potatoes). In this regard, potatoes fit as an influence from the same region as tomatoes for more traditional builds.

The thing that does keep me looking, is a little on the tzatziki sauce and some on the side salad which missed the mark.

Overall, I'll be visiting many times...
