UPDATE: We went again and tried two new dishes that were both delicious. We got the Loco Moco, and the Korean Fried Chicken fried rice. Loco Moco was especially good because they served it with real kimchi! YAY! And the KFC fried rice has a little too much egg. There is egg in the rice and egg on top. Too MUCH egg for my taste! The restaurant has been around for a bit now and already has a great reputation. They did a great job renovating the space from the sad restaurant it was before. It's beautiful and bright inside! The menu is diverse and has a ton to choose from, although there was some serious fading on the menu from wear and tear, and it was hardly legible on one of them. I'd recommend protecting it somehow since it appears to be paper and ink. My only other recommendation is that they need more staff. It was completely packed on Saturday morning, which I'm guessing is not unusual. They could have turned our table over much faster, but we spent an unusual amount of time waiting to order, get drink service, get sugar, get our food, and then get our check. The food was excellent though and we would come back again for sure! Love this new addition to the area!

Food looks good in photos but not tasty at all. I liked crab cake bene (why I upped review from 1 star to 2, if I’m being accurate 0 star to 1.5) ok, but hash brown was mushy. Coke was completely fizz free. How does Coke become fizz free in a restaurant? It really tasted like can of coke opened before 2 hour meeting and you forgot to drink it. Fresh orange juice was average. What was really bad was Midtown French toast trio. The toasts you see in the photos are room temperature, stale, dry breads. “Barvarian cream” and “raspberry cream cheese” (red smear) that came with it are just fructose food colored whip cream. Problem is they don’t do minimum quality control. It would be hit or miss when you eat here. Who would come out for brunch to eat stale French toast and coke left on counter for good 30 min, let alone wait for a table 20-40 min? It was waste of time, money, and Sunday morning. With so many options like Denica, Norman’s, fifth wheel, Anna’s, Ones cafe, etc, I don’t get popularity of this restaurant. If food came out as expected, it would be just about 2.5 star which falls into category I probably won’t leave review.

Really a 3.5, but my 4 ratings are reserved for better places. Came here on a Saturday morning for brunch with Honey. We were seated quickly near the door. The staff was attentive, constantly walking around with water. We were almost served twice, which I appreciated. Good attention to detail in my book. A gentleman took our drink orders. The coffee was good, and the orange juice tasted fresh. Honey ordered the Kentucky Scramble, and I got the Jalisco Omelet. When I ordered, our server said it was "super good," so I decided to go for it. The food was just okay. Very bland overall. The short rib had potential but needed more flavor. The herb potatoes could've used a little something extra too. Honey had the same impression about her food. Service was solid, the food was so-so, and the restaurant itself is cute. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I'd come back, but it's not at the top of my list. I do want to try their hot link omelet next time.

Completely unimpressed, so I’m definitely not clear why we had to wait one hour to be seated!

I suspect the hostess got annoyed and made my party of four wait even longer after I noticed she had seated everyone that came AFTER us and I politely asked if my name might have been accidentally scratched off after I declined an outside table. I declined eating outside because it was freezing cold outside and we were supposed to have a two-year-old coming.

We had come from SF, Sonoma, and Oakland and were not properly dressed to sit outside in mid-50s weather. After checking with the hostess the first time, I was advised they were clearing two tables for us and it would only be another five minutes. Twenty-five minutes later, I advised the group It was too cold to keep sitting outside and we should lave to find another place where there was room to wait to be seated inside.

The friend that lives in Castro Valley has been there several times. She went inside and spoke to the hostess and a few minutes later we were seated. By this time the packed outside area Where we waited only had us and two other people. It had been cleared out of people who arrived after us.

It was now 2:11PM and the restaurant closes at 3:00 PM. The food felt rushed and was served warm instead of hot. One guest in our party had to wait an additional 15 minutes after the other three in our party received our food because they dropped her plate In the kitchen and it had to be redone.

I’m not sure why this place was so packed, because it’s nothing to write home about and certainly not a club I...

I was told the wait was 10 minutes and ended up waiting 30 minutes. We were sat down and the server rushed us on what we wanted to drink. My husband got a coffee, which was cold, and I got an orange juice which was honestly overpriced for the amount of juice they give you. To top it off we waited a whole hour for our food. I ordered the “El Dorado” Skillet and asked for it with potatoes, over hard eggs, sourdough toast, and no jalapeños. When I got my food the whole plate was lukewarm. My eggs were raw and no where close to over hard to which I let the server know and he sent my plate back to get “remade”. All they did was remove the egg from my plate and remake the eggs which were then put on a separate plate. I was given my original plate back with new eggs on the side which were still not over hard and by then my food had already came back cold. I never ended up getting my toast even after the fact that I asked for it twice, and they had added jalapeños even tho I asked for no jalapeños. My husband ordered the “Santa Maria” Skillet which contains completely bland and unseasoned raw steak. Not everyone likes undercooked steak and I feel that customers should be made aware of the fact that they’ll be receiving medium rare steak for their plate. His food was given to him completely cold and the only thing warm on there were the pieces of steak. Our overall experience just wasn’t pleasant and we were never checked up on by the servers either. The place is completely crowded and not worth the wait...

If I could give The Breakfast Club in Castro Valley zero stars, I would. Our experience was hands-down one of the worst I’ve ever had at a restaurant.

We showed up hoping to enjoy a nice family breakfast, but instead we got over an hour of waiting with zero communication or organization. After that outrageous wait, we were told we’d have to split up our party, even though we clearly said we wanted to sit together.

They moved us outside, then inside, like they had no idea what they were doing. Then they tried to seat my young kids at the bar — seriously? What kind of family restaurant does that?

The staff was clearly inexperienced and overwhelmed. The manager was rude and dismissive, and the hostess — who looked about 16 years old — had no customer service training whatsoever. No one seemed to care or make any effort to accommodate us.

But the worst part? After waiting all that time, they came over and told us we’d need to hurry up and order quickly because the kitchen was about to close! We hadn’t even sat down to eat yet. At that point, we just got up and left — starving, frustrated, and completely disappointed.

We had to go find another place to eat. What was supposed to be a relaxing morning turned into a total waste of time and energy.

This place is not recommended for families, children, or anyone who’s actually hungry. You’ll leave more frustrated than when you arrived. Skip this mess and go somewhere that actually knows how to treat...
