The golf course gets a 4 star, but the bartender that was working yesterday(Good Friday 2025) was extremely rude. I asked the gentleman and lady in the pro shop where I could get some ice as it was my first time playing the course. Both of them pointed to the restaurant/bar down the hall. I go in there and wait my while she serves others. Then she rudely and loudly says yes, what can I do for you? I said the pro shop told me I could come get some ice. She smacks her lips and says, "Is that all, I said, "That's it. Then she fills up a cup and hands it to me. I said Im sorry, but it's a cooler im trying to get ice for." She snatched the cup and poured the ice back into the well. She gets loud and rude again and says DID YOU BUY THE PRODUCTS FROM HERE?" I said no, it's only a body armor and a coke. She says uh huh you're supposed to buy the product from here. I feel like she thought I was bringing beer to keep cold, but i don't drink. Most of the other courses I play have coolers that latch onto your golf cart. You remove the cooler, put your drinks in then fill it up with ice from their ice machine and attach it back to your cart. If the rule is you must buy the product there, I was never told or never saw a sign. If that is the rule, that's fine but I'll never go back. If I hadn't paid just before that happened I would have left right then solely on her attitude. She was the 3rd employee I came into contact with and the 2nd one I actually spoke with. The guy at the pro shop was nice, but the 2nd employee i talked to was totally rude for no reason. On top of that I am paired with two ladies, nothing against them they were awesome people and both of them were excellent golfers. They were a pleasure to play with but there was a group in front of us playing fairly slow, they were hitting 2 balls at a lot of the holes, putting over and over but they weren't the actual problem the foursome in front of them were playing so slow it was unreal. The course was packed, but they were playing so slow they had 2 empty holes in front of them. With her attitude and the pace of play so slow, it took 3 hours to play the front so I decided to ask for a raincheck on the other 9 holes. My first impression of duffers is you have 1 rude employee and one of the starters/ rangers should tell people they need to pick up their pace of play. 3 hours for the front 9 is ridiculous. The ladies I was paired with said the exact same thing, they were stopping after 9 because the pace was that slow. That bartender put a bad taste in my mouth and ruined my experience. I hope it wasn't like that for others. I'm not sure I'll use that raincheck if she'll be there. Guess I'll just chalk that $75 up to the game. Do better please, I did nothing to you for you to respond how you did and ruin my...
Read moreI am historically not one to leave restaurant reviews but in this case needed to make an exception. My family of 7 visited Duffer’s for dinner while on vacation. Will start off by saying we are an extremely easy bunch to please—wrong orders, over/undercooked meats, partially frozen fries, no problem. However, what we experience tonight was downright wrong and I felt it necessary to warn others out of principle.
Here is a rough timeline of our experience: -6:10pm arrived and we’re told it would be a 30-45 min wait -6:45pm–were told our table was still waiting on a group to finish. Meanwhile we’ve seen two other families of similar size enter and be seated (restaurant doesn’t take reservations) -7:15pm—We were told our table was being cleaned. At this point families that arrived after us were finishing their meals and leaving. -7:30pm—Seated at table -7:45pm—Orders placed. Ordered a draft beer that was completely flat. When the waitress took it back we watched the bar tender roll her eyes. During this time, every table in the restaurant was waiting on their food. -8:30pm—food arrives, in pieces -8:45pm—waitress starts to take plates while 4/7 people are still eating. Essentially rushing us out after taking over two hours to seat us and bring the food. -8:55pm checks are incorrect -9:00pm, the fam leaves the restaurant after nearly 3 hours of ridiculousness
During this time there was no acknowledgement from the staff of the poor service nor any courtesy to make things right. I hope you will steer clear of this place out of respect for your time and a genuine desire to enjoy a dining experience with...
Read moreWe decided to try this place out because we have never been there. The place is very clean and roomy. The atmosphere was loud but there is a bar and a lot of people. The deck out back was going to have a band a little later. The waitress was great and very polite. 10 of us had an assortment of dishes. The Calabash platter and the variations it could be ordered is a great idea. The amount of food provided for each plate was generous. The flounder on the platter was not overcooked, however the seasoning was lacking and bland. The mussels were the best dish served but still the seasoning left us wanting more of the wow factor there also. The Reuben sandwich is hard to mess up. It had a great amount of meat and I was surprised it did not have the kick you come to expect from this sandwich. The fries for everyone were a let down. Some not cooked all the way and the expected outer crispy crunch was not there on every plate. They were lacking in seasoning also. The biggest let down was the Philly. It left me going home hungry. It looked good with the presentation until you bit into it. First bite was depressing and painful all at the same time. No flavor and even the peppers were bland. Very little cheese and two fingernail sized pieces of bone were painfully crunched down onto. The second and last bite proved to be the same with another thin hard piece of shaved bone the size of a bean but flat. That left the coleslaw but it was warm. Very bland with an off taste even that everyone commented on that had it on...
