Stayed in room 105, very cute, plenty of space for our small family of 3 and senior dog. We love that we had the opportunity to bring him along. Pros: Room was clean upon arrival with enough room with the queen bed and pull out sofa. The kitchenette was perfect for basic things, and the dining table and chairs were just enough. The bathroom was well decorated and clean, with plenty of towels for our stay. I was not expecting shampoo and soap, and it was a nice additional touch. From the outside, its an adorable hotel, walking distance to the public beach access and a few cafes (the iced coffee at rubys cant be beat!), and its own private pool to boot. Cons: the walls are very thin, and there are blinds but no shades on the windows, so light sleepers take note. All of the ceiling fans in the row of rooms are on the same remotes, so other rooms would turn on the lights to our room and vs versa. There were a few times we had to battle it out to keep our light off for the evening with one of our neighbors. I didnt experience a comfy bed as other reviews state, but that may just be my preferences. My husband preferred seeking refuge on the sleeper sofa, than sleep the third night on the queen mattress, and by the morning after the third of four nights, we were really missing the comfort of a restful night in bed, and abandoned our last evening there to head home. If I could relay anything to the management, add more ways to hang things (where do we put wet swimsuits after a long day at the beach?), add room darkening shades, and a more eye appealing information booklet (we didnt find the wifi password until the last day, the welcome emails send us to a website, not the kitchen table for that information).

So 2 bedroom King Suite was great, a little pricier, but overall we liked it. The good. -Location is phenomenal, plain and simple. -Clean and comfortable. -Dog friendly. -Free Laundry -Kitchen accoutrements are useful. The bad. - Beds in my families opinion were not comfortable. Very firm. -The sub flooring in the 201 suite is so sub par that I thought I was going to cause damage just by walking around. - Pool is only open certain times of the year (check your dates) to make sure it’s open. - The lock on the door would never work, like 5 time’s trying before it would open. -Bikes, just saw they had some on a previous review, never saw them or were told about them? - 1 staircase for both levels, a little uneasy feeling in case of fires, etc. ****Notes. -The lazy turtle next door is fine for a drink or beer, but pass on dinner, not great. - Ruby’s Coffee, located at peer entry, great deal and support local- Closed on Tuesday, FYI. -The Pizza Shack(terrible pizza) go for The Pepperoni Grill pizza, longer wait, but it is much better. - Southport cute day trip -OKI coffee and OKI scoop shop and donuts, totally overpriced & overhyped, skip them both and save some dough. Not worth it at all. Overall beautiful location and we would come back, but probably stay at another location or hotel because of the beds.

First time here. Location is great. Short walk to beach and to get some food. Our room was small but nice and it was great for a short visit. Bathroom was very nice and the shower was the best i have experienced in a long time. Pool was small but empty with few guests there. Since most people go and do there own thing anyway, we werent concerned about the pool. The establishment was quiet and clean. Parking was also no problem. We greatly appreciated the early check in! That was super nice and made the day that much better. Again, the notice and information thru text was a delight and I liked that so much! The hotel also kept us Informed with all topics thru text which was nice. Ice machine worked great and there was laundry machine on site if needed. The tv in the room was awesome as well! Tons of apps so you can sign in from your personal account to start watching. Best set up for a guest and I was thrilled about that! Only issue is with house keeping. They didnt clean our room, only replaced towels. Not sure if thats just the way it is there or not but its not a deal breaker at all. All in all, id definitely recommend staying here. Hotel was great, management was accommodating, and the location was awesome. If we return back, im more than likely going to stay here again!

Let me begin with the location is fantastic. Two different public beach accesses right in front of The Beach House. Walkable to multiple restaurants and a pier. The motel room we had was small, but doable for our 4 night girls trip. The room smelled and appeared clean. The new beds that were in our room were so comfy! The bathroom had no vent which made showering interesting. There is no where to hang anything in our room. Everyone knows at the beach - you have wet stuff that you have to hang up! There was a small rack but no hangers or anything. No outlets in the bathroom and only two available outlets in our whole room.

Biggest issue we had was service. We were left with only 2 sets of bathroom towels. Our second day there - we went to the office to ask for some more towels. The lady in the office was on a call - appeared personal - and asked what we wanted. She said she would bring some towels by later. We were kind of struck by the response but tried to not to think too much of it. The next day, we were coming in from the beach and stopped to chat with our neighbors who were enjoying some time on their front porch area. They were saying that they too had the same concerns with their room and that they had spoken with the lady in the office. We proceed to tell them about our towel issue that we had the day before and how we tried not to think too much of it. We went our ways - both getting ready for the evening. A few minutes later - there was a bang at our door. It was who we believe is a lady named Amanda? She very rudely says “I hear you all need towels. I just brought you towels yesterday.” We said that we didn’t need towels but would take them since she was there and had them. I then asked if we could get some of the hand towel sets. Again - disgusted that I even ask - proceeds to tell me that “extras are kept under the sink in the bathroom. Did you even look there?” We hadn’t because we didn’t think of towels being under the sink in the bathroom. She then tells me “to go look now and see if they are under there.” I stood there kind of stunned as she was barking out orders. I checked under the sink and there were no sets under there. She comes back a few minutes later, banging on the door again. When I open the door - she hands me a set of the hand towels and says “if you put your towels outside every morning - they will bring you clean ones.” We had no idea we were supposed to do that - I even reread through all the paperwork that was left for us in the room.

I am just really dissatisfied with that type of service. My family owns a business that has been around for 60+ years and I know I would never treat my customers with that type of disrespect. It is sad because our neighbors said they dealt with the same attitude when they addressed the issue with her. Just a...

The good part first: Check in is very easy, prior communication is great with emails and texts, they are very pet friendly, location is a walk across the street to beach access, and two eateries are right down the block, walking distance. ||The bad part that overshadows all of that good part: the walls are paper thin. They have "quiet time" starting at 9 pm, but that assumes everyone staying in the motel abides by it. Well, unfortunately they don't. We traveled 9 hours and got in around 9pm, and all we wanted at that point was a good night's sleep. Didn't happen because the obnoxious couple staying above us came home around 1:30am, and weren't quiet. They woke us up, and unfortunately we couldn't fall back asleep. Because of that, we were unable to go out the next night, due to us being so tired that we stayed in and slept, so we really did not get to experience the area. We originally booked for four nights, but left after two. So we, who had done nothing wrong, were inconvenienced with leaving and spending more money on an AirBnB, while the obnoxiously loud couple got to stay and not be inconvenienced. ||We had never been to Oak Island before, so didn't know there were so many other places to stay that are also pet friendly. Now that we know, if we return, we will not stay at this place. ||I saw one other review that ALSO discussed the thin walls. This should be disclosed on their website to let people know that they may have a lousy night's sleep. For what they charge, this should not be happening and should be corrected asap.||To summarize and conclude, I'm faulting the other occupants more than the management. People are inconsiderate, thinking nothing of stomping around and talking at the top of their voices late at night. Nonetheless, when a business offers a good or service and people get the opposite of that outcome, it is incumbent upon the business to maintain good will and offer a refund. We got credited for the nights we didn't stay which was absolutely right to do, but a great business would have refunded that first terrible night's stay also. So buyer be warned, the overall situation of this motel does not guarantee a restful night for...

This was a very quaint mom & pop motel at a quiet, laid back beach. The staff - from housekeeper to office staff was overly nice and attentive. Our baseball team of about 10 families with 10-12 11 yr olds stayed here. ||||Do not expect a chain Hotel, like the Ritz Carlton, because this is not it.||||This is a small mom & pop older motel that does show wear with rust and other cosmetic issues, but the rooms are clean.||||The rooms: We stayed in the 2bdrm apartment which was sufficient for our 6 people. The king beds were comfortable and the bedrooms were A/C cool. The living room got a little warm during the day or while cooking, but it was fine.||||Decor: it is an old beach motel. There is rust in places but that is to be expected - salt air, older motel. The chair in the living room needs to be replaced, no cushion/springs left in it, but the couch was comfortable and the kitchen table and chairs were sufficient for what we needed. The sliding glass door blinds need replacing because they will fall off when touched, but they do work.||||The bathroom area was clean, as well as the other rooms.||||The pool was very nice. It had chairs and lounge chairs along with a shade canopy which was nice. The pool was very clean and refreshing.||||The gazebo across the street at the beach was nice to hang out for our large group of people. ||||Very short walk to beach, which was very nice.||||You can also walk to the Lazy Turtle to eat, drink, listen to music.||||Cops do patrol the area rather heavily, so walking is a good addition to have if you consume adult beverages.||||I wish I could have gotten the ladies name at the office because she was very accommodating. A family had locked their keys in their room, and we called the number on the door and within 10min they were in their room.||||We also used the grill at the gazebo to cook out and used the picnic table near the office to lay out our food. ||||We had a great experience here with our large group and will hopefully be...
