We rented Pink Lady because it was affordable and on the beach. The saying is, you get what you pay for. I had seen the pictures and knew it was way outdated and expected it not to be exactly what I wanted, but thought it was worth it. Things I did like or the very hot water and pressure. Location is obviously awesome and the covered porch was really important cuz it rained the whole weekend.
Unfortunately, the cons far outweigh the pros. When we walked in the laundry service they use had thrown 2 big yellow bags in the kitchen with our sheets and towels to make our own beds. I get it if that's how they operate. I clean airbnbs for a living so I know each place has their own method. Placing each set of sheets and towels on each bed would've made me feel my money is appreciated. Heck, even Super 8 motel makes our beds.
Next, we walked into two huge palmetto bugs on the floor. I'm guessing the place had not been rented in a while, but that's no excuse.
The home itself feels very neglected. The kitchen hasn't been tended to for years based on the fact that everything is just placed in whichever cabinet is closest.
The ice tray is busted
The couches dirty. We covered them with the quilts they didn't have laundered since they had human hairs on them. I rewashed all the bedding cuz we have no idea how long that has been.
The beds do not have any support so if you need a firmer bed, keep looking.
A noted danger: the banister literally broke in two places when we were just standing on the deck. If this had been a little one, they would've been really hurt.
My ultimate takeaway is never stay here again which is unfortunate because it has so much potential to be a perfect little getaway.
If you do stay here, bring your own blankets, toilet paper and paper towels, dish soap, dishwasher pods, detergent , etc. We got lucky because people have left some of those things behind. The company did provide one roll of tp in each bathroom so there's that.
Bring some cleaning supplies to get it up to your standard of cleanliness. The washer and dryer work really well even though they're old. There are some chairs in the basement and a really old grill.
Basically just figure you're getting a house on the beach that's it. đ
Pic of the beach is our view from the porch. May totally be worth all the other inconveniences to you. đ
Note to Margaret Rudd Realty: please do not systematically dismiss my review as you have most of your one Stars. It is what it is. It's ok if this is how you operate but people need to know how to prepare. That's my...

The 4 over were children under the age of 13. Weâre on this trip to have one more family vacation at the beach before my terminally ill mother starts her second round of chemo and radiation after being diagnosed with Glioblastoma less then a year ago.
The HVAC unit wouldnât cool the second floor and condensation was dripping from the vents. The manager called my wife on Monday and requested that a heating and cooling company come in to fix the air-conditioning. My wife requested no due to us wanting a private vacation.
On Tuesday, we received 2 missed calls and voicemails from a manager named Karen. We were out trying to enjoy our day. Karen threatened in one voicemail that she would come to the rental if we didnât return her phone call in an hour.
When my wife returned the call to rental agency, Karen was extremely rude. She stated that the HVAC system was being taxed passed itâs limit due to being set to below 74 degrees. She repeated many times that the temperature in the home could not be set below 74 degrees. The entire second floor hadnât reached below 78 degrees the first 3 days of our vacation due to the HVAC not cooling properly. Karen then asked my wife to repeat everything back to her like my wife was a child! My wife is a 29 year old registered nurse!
When my wife began to get upset and explained to the manger the importance of the vacation and that it wasnât our fault that the HVAC system was failing, Karen then stated that they were aware that there were more than the max capacity at the rental and threatened to come to the property to count and evict us if we didnât allow them to work on the HVAC.
We were over by 4 children! Children who wanted to spend a vacation with their terminally ill Nana!
Weâre a very respectful, clean family and just wanted a private vacation with my mother.
Also, a bed frame broke in the master bedroom. Multiple fan lights would randomly turn on in the bedrooms, day and night. The shower water was luke warm. The home itself looks like it already has foundation issues. And there are security cameras on the property watching itâs tenants. Steppinâ on the Beach is where we stayed. Please beware of this home and this agency.

Read moreI feel as like I have been robbed of $10,000, and have not been treated right from these folks.
I had a 4 week vacation planned at Oak Island (split between 2 homes), I have rented from Rudd and other Oak Island companies the past 10 years. My family of 8 were in a 2 week rental home from Rudd, we called the office prior to the storm and the rep. said, this is a normal storm and suggested we stay but it's our choice to leave if we did not feel safe. So we braved the storm, and I even had to make a repair to the outside water line of the home in 40MPH wind to maintain water pressure for the toilets (storm Surge ripped the outside shower off the house), the next morning we woke up to a sand nightmare, and we were forced to leave after the 3rd day being in the home, we called the office multiple times, with barely any response. One representative responded, "even if you had the insurance they wouldn't help you to reclaim lost money for the 2nd week". My Family went inland to a hotel for 3 days waiting for a response from a Rudd rep to see if we could go back for our 2nd week, and never got any response (called 3-5 times per day), finally after racking up close to $1000 of hotel bills we made the 8 hour trip back home. We have been disputing the charges with them ever since we returned home. We have NOT received any refund for anything, including rent, taxes, pet fees, cleaning, etc.
For some perspective on how Rudd runs financial operations, we had bookings with other companies during the time of evacuation, and they gave us back 100% of our money with no travel insurance. We had friends with the same experience, getting 100% returns on payments with other companies. So I know first hand that other companies gave back money and Rudd has chosen to keep my $10,000. Home owners have insurance for this type of thing and most are covered if the property cannot be rented due to a storm, so I feel they kept our money for no reason, the only people that lost out in my situation is the me (the renter).
So yes my children lost the vacation that they so well deserved, then on top of that, my family lost our entire year of saving for this trip, This is NOT a company you want to do any business with when other companies in the area did the right thing with refunds.
PLEASE, Look at other rental companies in the area, I will not be booking with this company...
