  • WARNING - THEY WILL NOT DO SUBSTITUTIONS * We have been coming here since before the name change as their chicken Teriyaki bowls with their spicy poppyseed sauce (our favorite) are amazing, and had become one of our favorite places to grab a bite to eat. However, husband and I don't eat pork, and we would ask for the egg roll (which is a pork egg roll) that comes with one of the bowls to be swapped with a spring roll, which was never a problem. However, this has recently become more of an issue, and our last visit, we were completely denied the swap, and told by the assistant manager that they can't do substitutions, though not really why (the fact that they don't do substitutions is also not posted anywhere). We then asked if we could just have the Teriyaki bowl without the egg roll then, to which he replied that they couldn't do that either. He then suggested a different teriyaki bowl for us. We asked if it came with the spicy poppyseed sauce, and he replied that it normally doesn't, but he would add it in (not sure why that was okay, but the spring rolls were not). I would have rated fewer stars, but our bowls were made fresh with a good amount of chicken and it did have the spicy sauce. However, I just want to caution others about the fact that they will not substitute things in the orders, as I'm sure there are many people out there who also don't eat pork. Because it was such a hassle last time, we may have to unfortunately scout out another...

My boyfriend and I wanted to try something different for our weekly Saturday excursion. I suggested cocky teriyaki as we’d driven past there several times but never had an inkling to stop.

I love supporting smaller restaurants (especially during the pandemic) so I made it a point to give them a shot.

We both got chicken teriyaki. Our meals were about $10.00 a piece. So it’s affordable. It took our food about 15 minutes, which I appreciated as I knew it was being freshly prepared and cooked to order.

The meal was comprised of rice, a salad made from iceberg lettuce and the start of the show... the chicken teriyaki. The food was piping hot when it arrived. I love their to-go containers because they keep your food warm and they are super secure.

It was love at first bite for my boyfriend. He was already talking about a return trip and we were only one bite in.

I thought it was delicious as well. I prefer a firmer, less sticky rice but the rice consistency was non issue when you pair it with the chicken.

If I had a complaint, it would be to have a salad dressing option. The dressing they provide is very similar to a coleslaw dressing, which is sweet. With the teriyaki chicken being sweet and the dressing being sweet, I would’ve preferred a savory dressing option. But it you’re getting takeout, you can always add your preferred dressing at home.

All in all it was a great experience and one I’m sure I’ll...

Seattle born and bred here (just moved from home two weeks ago). Can confirm that the teriyaki sauce and style is like Seattle. I’d say it’s similar to Toshi’s in Kirkland’s Houghton neighborhood. It checks out and I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for Seattle’s best comfort food.

Couldn’t give it a full 5 stars though because the salad dressing was unlike anything I’ve ever had in Seattle, it’s somewhat similar but not close enough.

As for atmosphere, it is different. It’s more modern/trendy (think BB’s Teriyaki a little bit), and less hole in the wall. They don’t use the classic container, and they’re just playing a rock music playlist (when like every teriyaki place in Seattle faintly plays Christian radio in the background lol).

Will I be back? For sure. Does it hit the spot? Mostly. Is it the same? No, but definitely come here if you’re needing your yaki fix.

Go M’s, Hawks, Sounders, Kraken, Storm, Seawolves, Huskies, Falcons, and Bring...

Update: In my frustration, I rushed to leave a 1 star review here before sending the feedback directly to the restaurant. I sent an email and they responded quickly with apologies and sincere effort to make it right. Mistakes happen and it's unfair to judge a business without giving them a chance to directly address the issue, so I've updated my review to reflect the responsiveness and professionalism of the owner of this small business and offer my apologies for be a hungry, impulsive grump. He even took the time to educate me on how DoorDash raises their pricing. I'll order directly next time and give them another chance. If it's good, I'll add a new review. Found surprise gross chicken bits in the tofu yakisoba that we paid WAY too much money for. Tofu was also rubbery and soggy and side salad was out of a bag iceburg and shredded carrot.
