Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Cedar Rapids

My family used to love this Dairy Queen. We go a couple times a week. Ever since the previous owner passed away we have been disappointed in the food, ice cream and service. We tried it again tonight and yet again disappointed. We waited 10 minutes in the drive thru at the board waiting for someone to take our order. We finally ordered and pulled around. There was 1 vehicle at the window waiting for his order. After 10 more minutes of waiting they handed the gentleman 1 cup of ice cream. I pulled ahead and they handed me my chocolate malt that was runny. I asked if they could make it thicker like a malt and he said ok. The next one came out with chocolate syrup on the inside of the cup and vanilla ice cream in it. I asked if they could blend it. He told me just keep it. He went and got the 1st malt and gave it back to me. I asked to speak with the manager. He said I am the manager. I explained my concerns and he just said ok. I got home and the Snickers blizzard I ordered was Snickers in chocolate milk. No wonder he tipped it quick with the lid on it. I am done with this DQ. I will go to Wilson Ave DQ or Parlor City Ice Cream...

This restaurant is extremely unsanitary, I visited this location and I noticed employees washing dishes with just water and no soap to sanitize. On top of that employees were washing these dishes in a sink clearly marked "HAND WASH ONLY" Meanwhile the employee who was making my food in the grill area was eating and drinking OVER the grill where they made my food. As I was leaving to throw away the food I overheard employees talking about me over their headsets mocking me for throwing away the food. The employees here would rather group up in the corner of the store and talk to each other rather than help me. Before I was even served I was waiting at the counter for a good 5 minutes while the employees talked and messed around in the back or in the corner of the store by the drive through window. To top it all off I noticed a 6 legged critter walking across the floor and another one of his friends in the corner, these little guys looked a lot like cockroaches. This restaurant is disgusting, and a health risk. The employees are rude and break obvious health codes. You will have to answer to the Health...

I drove through the drive thru and ordered medium Cherry Shake and got Strawberry. I called after I got clear across town, first of all the girl on phone didn't know if they made Cherry Shakes she took my name and i was told to come back in and they would replace it. I Stopped back, two weeks later, went in and Cathy checked her book, didn't see my name and said the normal would be to have the customer bring the item back in. I was not told to do this. So, I guess NO REPLACEMENT, I WON'T be going back to Johnson Avenue Diary Queen. I've read the "Dairy Queen Fans Relation Team" response and I'm not surprised at the way the Diary Queen on Johnson Avenue employees have been trained. I was hoping to get a response from the owner but got this generic come back and see us and nothing about making the messed up order right.
