I finally made it to Milio's Sandwiches ! And I am so glad I did. I was immediately greeted in the cheeriest way by Rob, who was manning the counter, while the owner, Alison, worked in the background, keeping the sandwich goodness going. I have to stress how bright and welcoming this location is and how friendly the staff of four manages to be with all they have to do to keep this bustling eatery running smoothly. Rob and Alison took the time to chat with me, even though they were the only staff there at the time and had no shortage of things to do. I think they have really grasped the core of what makes a neighborhood place special, that friendly personal touch. I felt like I made new friends or connected with neighbors, and that can't be packaged or sent down from corporate. That has to come from the heart. Oh yeah, the food😁 I ordered the #14 Chicken Pesto Italiano. Roast chicken breast, basil pesto, spinach, tomatoes, and mayo. The roll is baked in-house (everything is made fresh and in-house, including a very popular signature dill spread), and it was fabulous! A great crust, not too crusty, nor too soft, with a great mouthfeel. The interior was soft and delicious, with plenty of flavor. The roll was good enough that I would buy them separately to use in my own kitchen. The chicken breast was tasty and well complimented by the bright pesto. Overall, the sandwich was really fresh and tasty, and although a largish sammie overall, it wasn't stuffed to overflowing, displaying instead a reasonable (and welcome) proportion of bread to fillings. I loved it. My luncheon companion chose the #12 The Californian. Roast turkey breast, double provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole, alfalfa sprouts, and mayo. I'll admit, I took a few bites of this yummy sammie. Same roll, same fresh flavors. The only critical comment from my partner was that the guacamole "wetted out" the roll a touch, and although I can see their point, wasn't bothered by it myself. I like sprouts on a deli sandwich, and they definitely complimented this one. I also picked up a cup of spicy tortilla soup, delish and full of flavor, and it would have been a satisfying lunch by itself. The #9 Italian Club. Capicola ham, Genoa salami, smoked ham, provolone cheese, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, gourmet Italian dressing, and mayo. Is their most popular offering and most likely the sandwich I will try upon my return. And I will be sure to stop back in, not just for a delicious sandwich, but to chat with my new neighborhood friends. P.S. Looking forward to meeting you,...
Read morethey charge for every little thing! That's frustrating, it's pretty much Jimmy John's without the freebies. It also doesn't have an owner that likes to kill exotic animals in their spare time so I guess I'm more likely to support Milio's over pricing than Jimmy's lifestyle. They often get the order wrong if I order online, they'll put you on the list for a freeby next time but that doesn't change how sick you get from them sneaking cheese in the meat when you're lactose intolerant and you clearly said, "No dairy". The roast beef is amazing and they're Pepsi people which is my preference. They aren't freakishly fast in their delivery, in fact when we went in for a sandwich they even took 10 minutes to come from the back to even greet us, even though they saw us coming in the door. Room for service...
Read moreI was speaking with a young lady trying to place an order for delivery. I provided her with my address that she confirmed and than she proceeded to ask a gentlemen "do we deliver in that area". In which the young man replied " no it is the ghetto". First of all, that was very unprofessional, second my area is considered the medical district, third you are the only Milios in the area, why wouldn't you deliver on the SE area? I was very disappointed with this company tonight and will share this information with others that live in...
