The food was pretty good but nothing special you can't get better somewhere else. I had the fish and shrimp special and the fish was really good the shrimp were basically popcorn shrimp and were overcooked. Their salad bar was fresh but meager. What my husband ordered was really good but because they were out of what he wanted they gave him the salad bar which was nice. The seat I was sitting in a booth kept moving because it wasn't nailed down right. At one point I actually dropped my phone in the gap made by the seat moving, the waitress did notice and basically it came acrossed they knew the seat was messed up and hadn't bothered to fix it. The configuration of the front area when you come in is cramped and makes it difficult on the staff to know who to seat and who is paying their bill plus it fills up quick . They were not too busy when we were there but getting a booth, even though there were open ones threw the staff into a tailspin. The waitress we had was not very good but I did notice others were pretty amazing, so I think ours either isn't meant to be a server or she was having an off night. I will say she was not rude just complacent. The one shining thing about this restaurant was the bread. It is really good and they bring it out hot and fresh. Even though we had some issues I gave this a three star because it came acrossed as a bad one time thing not an on going all the time issue and off of how good my husband's dinner was we will be trying again to give them another shot. Will update after we...
Read moreThis morning was my first time visiting this restaurant. It had every opportunity to be a 5 star experience but 1 thing soured our whole visit. We were seated promptly upon our arrival and the tables were spread out far enough that I felt safe eating here. Our waitress (Michele O?) Older woman with bob haircut came with 2 waters and took our drink order. There were no straws provided. She then left us to look over the menu and came back with our drinks. We then asked for straws and 1 was broken. She took our food order and was good at making us aware of the options available. I ordered the French Toast and More with Scrambeled cheesy eggs, bacon, hashbrowns with onions and cheese sauce and 2 slices of french toast. My cousin ordered the BLT with french fries and side salad. Our waitress returned to the table to drop off some syrup and she reached in front of me to place it on the table without any communication (it was unexpected and impolite) she then left again and returned 5 minutes later with our food. I was pleasantly surprised to see our food had arrived so quickly. But again she placed the food in front of us with such an unpleasant demeanor. The salad was generic with no tomatoes or carrots. The BLT was worth ordering again but the French frys had no seasoning not even salt. I was delighted to see they offered Kathy's Pies and left with a slice of the Raspberry. Overall I will return to try lunch or dinner but will insist on a...
Read moreI don't go to Scott's often, but generally have a good experience when I do go. I'm not sure I'll be back after yesterday's visit. The food was fine and the service was adequate.
Scott's is the kind of place where regulars are treated better than casual visitors and, for the most part, I'm fine with that. I expect things like that when visiting local eateries. However, sometimes wait staff can get so chummy with the regulars they forget they're in a public place and not in their living rooms. Our server, I believe her name was Sherrie or Cheryl or something like that, kept coming over to a table near ours and "joking" with the couple there, calling them "retards".
I have made a living for nearly two decades as a caregiver and now a part of a management team, caring for folks with special needs. The word "retard" is one of the few words that truly bothers me, especially when shouted out several times in a public place by a staff member, meant as an insult, and followed by a long, loud laugh. To the special needs community, that word is seen as abusive and insulting. Now, if this staff member wants to shout that word in her own home, fine. But, she really needs to remember she's in a public place and while on the clock should try to remain professional and help create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere to all guests. I very nearly did not tip her, but decided to anyway, as her service to us was...
