Mangiamo Italian Market & Deli is a true gem in Celina! My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining there, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. From the moment we walked in, we felt the warmth and inviting atmosphere that reminded us of visiting a friend's Nonna – family-centric, abundant food, and genuine hospitality.
This family-owned establishment has a rich history, with roots in Acri, Italy, and a legacy of "farm to table" traditions passed down through three generations. Robert and Jason, the father-son duo behind Mangiamo, are clearly passionate about sharing their heritage and it shines through in every aspect of the restaurant.
We started with the Margherita pizza, and it was exceptional. The ingredients were clearly high-quality, perfectly balanced, and expertly cooked in their unique rotating wood-fired oven. The crust had a wonderful texture, and the flavors were spot on. We also tried the Chicken Milanese Focaccia, which was a massive and incredibly delicious sandwich. The focaccia bread itself was perfectly seasoned, and the chicken was crispy, tender, and cooked to perfection. The portions are incredibly generous – you definitely get your money's worth!
For dessert, we opted for the Limoncello Butter Cake, and it was the perfect ending to our meal. The cake was dense, incredibly moist, and the light Limoncello topping provided a delightful balance of sweetness and citrus.
Beyond the amazing food, the atmosphere is what truly sets Mangiamo apart. It has a warm, family-friendly vibe that makes you feel right at home. You order at the counter, and they bring your food to the table. They also have a small market area that will be opening soon, featuring high-quality Italian ingredients, including olive oils, which I'm very excited to explore.
Mangiamo offers incredible value with generous portions and reasonable pricing. It’s clear that they prioritize quality ingredients and authentic Italian flavors. If you're looking for a taste of authentic Italian cuisine and a truly welcoming dining experience, Mangiamo Italian Market & Deli is a must-try. I predict it will quickly become a...
Read moreWe stopped in for lunch and had a fantastic experience. My husband and I split the (giant) focaccia meatball sandwich, and we also ordered the kids’ chicken fingers with fries and a pepperoni pizza. Before leaving, we grabbed iced vanilla lattes, which were the perfect afternoon pick-me-up.
Let me start by saying: the meatballs are incredible. Truly some of the best I’ve ever had, maybe even better than the ones I make myself. They’re made with a blend of beef and pork, plus farm-fresh eggs (which doesn’t sound like a big deal, but wow, you can taste the difference). I highly recommend getting them on the focaccia sandwich. Just be warned, it’s messy. Definitely a knife and fork situation.
The kids’ pizza was so good we stole a slice. It’s made in a Neapolitan-style brick oven and was absolutely delicious. We’ll definitely be coming back to try more pizza. My other daughter had the chicken fingers and actually ate all of them, which never happens. You can tell they were hand-breaded and fresh, not some frozen heat-and-serve version. Big thumbs up for that.
As for the iced coffees, smooth, flavorful, and really well done. A great bonus to end the meal.
The place itself is super cute. Just a heads up that the indoor seating is limited, most tables are for parties of three or fewer. We pushed two together and made it work, but they also have outdoor seating that’s better for larger groups when the weather is nice.
The desserts looked amazing, but we skipped them this time. Definitely planning to try them on our next visit.
All in all, I’m giving this place a 5-star review. It’s tough to find Italian food this good anywhere near us. The quality, authenticity, and friendly service make Mangiamo a gem. Everyone left...
Read moreFirst off, having come from a client servicing background in the brokerage industry, let me just say that I am HUGE on customer service. In relation to the restaurant industry, customer service is incredibly important as it directly impacts customer satisfaction, loyalty, and ultimately, the restaurant's success. Having sat right smack in the middle of the patio for lunch today, I witnessed the manager (or perhaps the owner) interact with all the guests sitting around us, asking how they liked their food and how they were enjoying their day, etc - everyone except us. Even after we were served our food, I waited until someone approached us to let them know how the Chicken Alfredo was under-seasoned and the Chicken Milanese Focaccia was too salty. Absolutely no one came over to ask how we were doing and how the food was. Towards the end, we were only approached to ask if we were ready for our dessert and if we wanted to pack our food to-go. That was it. And yet I still witnessed more interactions with newer guests that had sat down after we started our meals - it made us feel unworthy of the place (or more like what my daughter said - "maybe it's because we are the only minorities here" - for my 13 year old to have felt this way, wow). Had I known service was going to be like this, I would not have provided an up front tip of 15% on top of the already expensive bill of $108.09 for just us 4 when we weren't provided any service other than our food being brought to us. We will...
