After several friends raved about how awesome Millie’s is we finally decided to give it a try. My husband and I arrived about 6:15 pm there may have only been one or two other tables. We were promptly greeted and seated at a cozy booth. A friendly female server took our drink order. Within a few minutes a guy dropped off our drinks and a bread basket. He took our order (two house salads, John’s style lasagne, baked ziti with Italian sausage). With our server nowhere to be found for at least 10 min we finally asked the original server for our salads. She apologized and brought them to us. We finished our salads and still no site of our server. He finally came out and apologized for “forgetting our salads”. By this point we had been there for about thirty min. Again we were wondering where our food was. The restaurant was not busy and we were this servers only table. We asked for some more bread and asked on the status of our food. He told us it he would check (it was obvious that that is when our order was starting to be prepared). When he came back my husband asked if this is normally how service and food comes out since this is our first visit. The server seems confused and said I told you sorry for forgetting the salad since he was in the back speaking to Millie. My husband said ok but is this standard for service and food…again explaining this is our first visit and try to understand what to expect. The server just stared at my husband ..so the husband stared back. Then the server stated my husband was getting aggressive (which didn’t happen…) my husband stated no I am trying to get an answer to my question to which the server stated yes this is how it is. My husband then said he wanted to speak to the manager or Millie. He said Millie wasn’t there and no one is the manager. To which my husband said what? The server finally said I told you I forgot to put your ticket in I am sorry (which is what we really just wanted to know). He walked away and the person who sat us came over to apologize and stated the meal was on them. Two min later our food came out. My lasagne (if you can call it that- as others have describe it’s two noodles stuffed with some sort of meat product. The portion was a 1 in x 2 in size smaller that a standard piece of cake) was cold and unedible. The baked ziti was terrible…could have gotten better at a college cafeteria. It is so sad because we were excited to support a...

While exploring new neighborhoods, hunger struck at the most inconvenient time—4:30 p.m., with the kids demanding pizza. We found ourselves in the middle of nowhere, where everything was at least a 30-minute drive away. A quick Google search led us to Millie’s Italian Restaurant in Celina, just 14 minutes away, and since they had pizza on the menu, it was an easy choice.
At first, we assumed it was just a takeout spot, but to our surprise, it had seating, and the kids were eager to dine in. The restaurant offers a full menu, covering everything from appetizers to hearty lunch and dinner options. Our server was incredibly kind and attentive, starting us off with garlic knots—warm, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Even though I wasn’t particularly hungry, I had to try one, and I’m glad I did!
Having grown up in New York and experienced countless Italian restaurants, I’ve found it challenging to discover that true, homestyle Italian flavor in Dallas. But Millie’s proved me wrong! We ordered a half-cheese, half-vegetable pizza, and the flavors were spot on—authentic and satisfying. My husband opted for the soup of the day, which was perfectly seasoned and rich in flavor.
Beyond the food, what made our visit even more special was the nostalgic decor featuring iconic New York City buildings. It sparked conversations about fond memories of NYC, a place that still holds a special place in my heart. Millie’s is truly a hidden gem, and I highly recommend it to anyone craving real Italian flavors in the Dallas area. We had a fantastic time, and the kids left happy and full—definitely a must-visit!
