Read moreThe shaved ice is yummy and staff is friendly. That’s what got them the third star. While I was waiting for my shaved ice with my group. I watched a flavor bottle fall on the floor and an employee named Max (in a camo shirt that day) picked it up and put it back on the counter for use. He might have rinsed it, not sure….but I would have gotten a completely new bottle. A little sink rinse isn’t gonna sanitize that bottle. I have managed a restaurant so I have studied for my serve safe. What he did is a health/safety violation and quite frankly disgusting. I almost said something in front of a lot of people but I didn’t because I didn’t wanna cause a scene. I should have though and feel bad I didn’t. Also, once the place was clear and it was only my group and the employees in the building, instead of cleaning all the nasty tables people left and messes on the floor they were playing games. Towel snapping cups to see how far they would go or how hard they could do it. Only good thing this place has going for them is the good flavors and friendly attitudes. Other than that…. I probably won’t come back just because of the...

When I had Bahama Buck's for the first time I was near tears. The texture I'd remembered from my childhood, silky smooth ice that absorbs the flavoring so well it lasts to the bottom of the cup, was there. You know that scene in Ratatouille where the critic eats something that immediately transports him back to his childhood? Yeah, it was like that. Whatever machine the chain uses to shave their ice is the real deal.
I recently had a chance to go back to Hawaii for a friend's wedding and made sure to hit up Matsumoto's, THE place for shaved ice in Oahu, and I can now definitely confirm that Bahama Buck's is really authentic to what you'd get in Hawaii. I think I even prefer the syrup Bahama Buck's uses!
On top of the authenticity the number of flavors available is huge and the service is great. There's also other options like smoothies and custom soda if you don't want shaved ice for some weird reason.
I can't recommend...
