April 1st 2023 update - Ran here on opening day for our hot dog and ice cream date and we were pretty disappointed in the changes. The 2 hot dog, chip, and pop combo is now $7.50 which we wouldn't mind paying if the food was actually decent. More times than not our bun is ROCK hard. They also switched out diced onions for the dehydrated ones and they weren't even fully rehydrated when they were served to us. We won't be getting the hot fog combo here anymore which is pretty disappointing as it was our favorite little getaway lunch date.

The best quick date spot! My husband and I love coming here and getting the 2 hot dog, chips, and drink combo for only $5.50. The buns some days are a hit or miss but it doesn't bother us too much. Skip the personal pizza, it came still cold and frozen but the cheese was burned. Their ice cream is always the best way to end the day! Their hot fudge isn't hot all the time which is disappointing but we just changed our sauce choice to avoid it. I wish they could keep the blue moon August flavor of the month forever! This small window service ice cream establishment can’t be beat. You will very often find yourself in long lines during the summer season. Located off the shores of Cedar Lake is the unassuming DAIRY BELLE with many choice flavors of ice cream served up in either dishes, shakes, malts, sugar or waffle cones. They offer special flavors monthly (I believe) & Pistachio has been on my radar but time and again I come back to Chocolate. The creamy almost pudding like texture of DAIRY BELLE Ice Cream will make you come back for more. I believe this is a hidden gem that’s worth the boast! There is another DAIRY BELLE in Dyer, IN if you are headed in that direction on Rt. 30. This is not a sit inside eatery but many picnic tables and sandpit for kids to play in off to the side with a great view of the lake & boats. I have been going to the Hammond Dairy Belle for over 20 years. When I moved out to schererville we started going to that one and now we go to the one in crown point. All of them are fantastic. However the one in cedar lake could not do the normal request that the others always do, chocolate dipped in Oreo. Now not being able to do it is not the issue, the issue is the attitude I got just for asking for that request. Very smirky.
