Sip Coffee House Cedar Lake — Restaurant in Center Township

Sip in Cedar Lake's service was a joke today. Disclaimer I was in no hurry and this was in no way the wait staff's fault. However there were many people in front of me who were in a rush because they were on their lunch break. I tried calling ahead of time to place my order so it would be ready when I got there. However, the line rang for about 5 minutes before I hung up. No worries had plenty of time I didn't mind waiting a while for my food. I arrived and ordered at 12pm two chicken salad sandwiches and two beverages. The drinks were fast and efficient. However when it came to the food I waited for 30 minutes for just two chicken salad sandwiches. I was the first person in to order and I was the last person to get my order. The real kicker was that this nice lady who came in after I did asked if I was waiting long. And I was waiting for a while before our conversation. She proceeded to tell me that she had ordered a whole 20 minutes before leaving her work on her lunch break so she could have her food in time to get back to work. Another 10 minutes went by and she still did not have her food. Two other people who had just walked in after us were served first. So she proceeded to ask for a refund and explain her situation to which the waitor at the counter had told her he could not give her the money back because the food was "already being made". So the waitor goes to the kitchen and comes right back out with her food while I was still waiting for mine. Again did not bother me as I had nothing better to do. Also, you can see right into the kitchen a majority of the customers can. And there was nothing fast about them. They would rather sit around chatting about their grandmas than deal with their lunch rush. Furthermore, I've never had a problem with the Sip in Crown Point so I will be going out of my way to order food from their place...

SIP’S Coffee House located in Cedar Lake, IN is an awesome stop. I visited recently and wish I had sooner. It is very much reminiscent of TV’s “Friends” .. a great place to relax and hang out with a book, computer, mocha & good company. This venue is whimsical & inviting with plenty of colorful chairs, velvet sofa or cozy nooks to choose from. I had a hard time deciding where to sit! Once settled in I ordered regular coffee w (free refills) & chicken w goat cheese wrap. It was delicious. There is a nice sized menu to choose from and many pastries & sweets if you choose. The service is very good, clean & atmosphere will relax the best of us. I wish that there were more venues that offered this refreshing take on a coffee stop. Food and coffee is great, however lately some of the staff has not been consistent at all making drinks. Some days a drink is mainly milk with no coffee and other says the drink is made how I ask. For my wife she gets different types of drinks regular and it's been very inconsistent. She'll get a good drink every 1 of 4. She'll repeatedly send the drink back to get it how it was when she liked it to only be made worse or the same. It's been a 50/50 chance that if you ask for hot or iced that it comes the way you ask. The food has been excellent for the most part. Carly and Jackie always made awesome drinks and very consistent unfortunately...
