Pizza Palace — Restaurant in Center Township

I wanted to love this place. I love the small "hole in the wall" places. We ordered a large deep dish sausage and cheese pizza by phone. We were advised it would be ready in one hour. We went and picked it up 45 minutes later, and it was ready when we arrived. So for timeliness alone, that's a five star.

Interestingly, the pizza came in a bag instead of the traditional box. It was on a cardboard base, with a couple sheets of plastic on top to ensure the cheese didn't stick to the bag.

The pizza looked interesting upon initial inspection. It clearly had somewhere in the neighborhood of seven or eight hundred pounds of cheese on it. That's an exaggeration of course, but it had a LOT of cheese. So much that once the cheese cooled a bit, we were legitimately afraid someone would choke on the cheese.

The outer crust was mostly flavorless, with the consistency of a saltine cracker. Below the mountain of cheese, the bottom crust was very thin and largely without flavor as well.

Overall, the pizza was seriously lacking in flavor, aside from the taste of the cheese, which, in case I haven't mentioned, was an insane amount.

So I order from pizza palace for years I have been living in the local area for over a decade ordering from pizza palace and every other local places in cedar lake. today really broke my spirit because I will no longer be doing business with this company. I placed an order for a family sized half sausage half cheese pizza and after tippin the driver and getting my food the whole cheese side was burnt the crust was to hard to feed to my kids it looks to me like they had a cheese pizza already made so they cut it in half and put it with our sausage pizza witch was a lot fresher and taste was on point as usual but all I could taste from the cheese was burnt dough.so when I called back to rectify the situation the woman who I believe is the owner told me she watched my pizza come out the oven and it was perfectly fine so I asked her if she was basically calling me a lier to which she responded and said well are you calling us a lier. She has very poor customer skills and the pizza here had gotten worse and worse over the last year or two. DO NOT GIVE PIZZA PALACE YOUR BUSINESS THEY DONT CARE FOR THERE CUSTOMERS AT ALL AND ITS SICK THE WAY THE WOMEN TREARED ME. I'll get the main reason for this score out of the way: They made a mistake on my order, insisted that they "didn't hear that on the phone" when I first called. They refused to make what I know I ordered (claiming there wasn't enough time despite being 90 minutes before close). They offered no apology or refund. The customer isn't always right anymore. Certainly not here. I was polite and gave them a chance but they were so instantly defensive.

Place looks like a dump, inside and out. Bad lighting, unclean floors and ceiling, wouldn't be surprised if it all ends up in the food, too.

Don't bother with delivery, it takes longer than Pizza Hut. Stuffed pizzas are made without sauce on top too... not a deal breaker but it looks and tastes so wrong. Thin crust was passable. Toppings like fruit and vegetables don't taste fresh either. The pizza sauce is quite sweet, but it is the only good thing they have.
