We usually drive over 30 minutes to eat at Siam Thai Cuisine in Central. We have discovered that they have moved to the Walmart shopping center in Central SC. We went ahead and tried Bake & Cook Thai restaurant. When we walked in there was only three other tables that had seated customers. We noticed that two tables had no food in front of them and one table was complaining about how long they had been waiting for food. The waitress took our drink order and we went ahead and ordered our food. After about 25 to 30 minutes the other tables got their food and the only food coming out of the kitchen was to go orders. Another couple that had came in after us had already got their food and we were still waiting for a cashew nut chicken , and pad Thai plate. We waited for a total of 48 minutes after we had ordered to receive our food. Then the waitress asked if we wanted it to go since we inquired about how long it was taking to get food. I would expect to wait 30 to 40 minutes for food in Anderson or Greenville at a high end restaurant, but not at a hole in the wall restaurant with only 4 tables that had customers. The waitress apologized but said they were busy with to go orders. No apology from the owner or management. Would definitely be a one and done restaurant for us. I will definitely stick to Siam Thai...
Read moreWe just got some take out. It was our first time trying this restaurant.
Pros: The containers didn’t spill. Yes, I know that’s a small thing, but it’s so nice when you get things like soup and curry. The flavors were good, too. My daughter liked her orange chicken a lot.
Cons: The Tom Kha soup was a bit unusual from what I have had at every other Thai restaurant, and although tasty it didn’t have quite what I’m expected in the flavor profile. I was a little disappointed in the vegetables because it was mostly onions, with minimal mushrooms and even tomatoes (unexpected).
Just a Note: The red curry was also tasty, but I ordered mild and had quite a surprise when I was eating it because it was so spicy. I am not able to eat Thai-level spiciness, but can handle a decent bit of spice. This was next-level to be considered “mild.” My husband’s was the same in terms of spiciness. I always order mild when I eat someplace new, so I am glad I did. Be forewarned and order wisely.
Overall, it was not bad and was fine in a pinch when I was craving Thai food and didn’t want to drive to Greenville. I would go again and try something different because the flavors were solid, but I will probably drive to Greenville when I want...
Read moreThai food is the only Asian food I eat because of its superb flavors & excellent dishes, and having eaten it all over the USA and I was excited to find a new restaurant (to us) in Clemson. Our waiter was sweet and kind and the coconut soup was Delicious, BUT...our spring rolls were over fried & my glass noodle and veggie dish was UNEDIBLE!! I informed the waiter that it tasted BURNT & BITTER and that we couldn't eat it, (and we didn't). He didn't know what to do and didn't want to come back to our table except to give us a bill. The Manager would not come at my request & sat with his back to us, the cook said it was because I didn't want the egg in our dish....REALLY?? I made up my mind NOT to pay for the entree, just the over done spring rolls and soup....but because our waiter was so nice, I paid the entire bill, tipped him generously and left. I have NEVER in my life had such rudeness and been shown such disrespect in a restaurant in my entire life!! I will warn Everyone NOT to patronize this restaurant. I wouldn't feed my dog food like that, it was TERRIBLE!! Be warned, if something is wrong with your food, you will be treated...
