A rainy Friday at 11:30am and the full parking lot looked discouraging, but we found a spot to park rather quickly. We were seated as soon as we walked in despite it being pretty full inside. The interior is very nice and light, with a brand new feel to it all. We were seated on the bar side, and the only downside was how loud it was at times since all the tables were full. Our waitress Megan was quick, and was very pleasant, patient, and helpful when we asked A LOT of questions, lol, She even made sure my coffee cup stayed full (we do live in the PNW after all!) and Hubbie got his Bloody Mary fast! The food was a little pricey, but we understood why after we took our first bite of the meat lovers omelet with a side of gravy, and chicken fried steak, hash browns and eggs, with a side of pancake. First off, we noticed how the food was of a higher quality...for example, the egg yolks were bright yellow and looked very fresh, and the food tasted fresh and like a home cooked meal (without all the extra salt others throw in to cover up lower quality food!). The side orders, gravy, and a pancake (the whipped sweet butter on top of the pancake was beyond amazing) were worth it! The rest of our meal also was very good! At first it didn't look like the portions were very big, but I think it's an optical illusion because we were so full that we had to take half our meal home!
We got to talk to one of the owners, Dean, and he was not only welcoming, friendly, and chatty (great qualities in a restaurant owner/manager) but he asked us about our experience and then actually patiently listened! And he recommended his favorites on the menu to try next time. Believe me folks, the next visit can't come soon enough! I highly recommend you take your family and support this small business and eat at Hash! Tell Dean Bulldog and Lady Bulldog...
Read moreWelll.....good to have an up and coming restaurant finally that will be around awhile. Especially as seeing this probably the 3rd or 4th try in this spot that we know of. Service was great. We were seated right away and that's awesome for how busy this place can get. Tabls are kinda smallish, but that's only because they have a rather large(for the size of table) condiment tray. Think if they need to trim everything way down. That would really make things a lot easier for space management. Especially when you have a Pancake the size of a medium pizza! Holy moly! Ok, so how was the food....hmmm....I have some suggestions. Only because I like this place and want them to make it. So sometimes ya gotta go with it. Hollandaise sauce needs lemon juice in it for the Benedict plates. Not trying to be picky, but it needs it. Other than that it was great. Pizza pancake...please quit using the lite maple syrup. I mean for christ sake I just ordered a pizza size Pancake, do you really think I'm concerned with weight? Also, please double down on the vanilla used in the batter. The cake part was a little...mmm, tasteless? Sorry! Quit serving it on an aluminum pan. Maple syrup and aluminum does not bode well with each other. Or, an even better idea would be to switch to a blueberry compote/syrup? How about a pistachio infused maple syrup? Still, lose the aluminum pan. I will have to say, good job make such a huge pancake. So there you have my dissertation on our first try at this new place. Good luck in the future, we will be back to try...
Read moreWAAAAAAAAA The food isn’t seasoned!
That feels like Half the comments I’ve read about this place. As someone who has worked in the back of 3 different restaurants to the Diners that eat here: Kindly learn to take the initiative and use the Salt/Pepper/Ketchup/Mild jalapeño sauce on your own food that’s clearly offered to you on the table!
It’s great that they give agency to the diner, and letting them decide the amount of salt that they want on their own plates.
The place is very clean, the music wasn’t to intrusive but sounded like proper background noise. We arrived early morn and the waitress was very kind and attentive.
I had the Chicken fried steak “Something I rarely get to have” and it was piping hot! The bacon gravy was lukewarm, but it being over food that was that hot actually made the chicken steak easer to eat haha so I can forgive that just because of my own foods temp.
I loved the little breakfast appetizer that comes before the main meal. It’s a cute idea, and goes well while having good conversation. The whipped butter wasn’t overly sweet, which is always a good sign.
For constructive criticism sake, maybe season the gravy a little more, but not so much that it over powers the other flavors in the gravy ( : keep the rest of the food unsalted as is. Hmm I’m not quite sure how your establishment maintains the gravy’s temperature, but maybe crank it up a bit more if you catch my drift.
I don’t know when I can come back, but this restaurant has definitely been put on...
