Beto's Bakery — Restaurant in Ceres

While their milhojas is great, every time we've ordered a cake here it's been way behind schedule. At least four times in a row, we order a cake and each time it wasn't ready at the time scheduled for pickup. We end up waiting around for too long. The first three cakes were at least pretty good at least. Enough so that it felt worth it to come back next time.

The fourth time was the last straw in which we ordered a tres leches and it seemed like they hadn't even started it. We had to go home and wait for them to let us know the cake was ready. We drive back to pick it up, go about our birthday party, then we cut the cake and it tastes like nothing. It tasted like they forgot to sweeten the cake and the milk mixture didn't have condensed milk in it. Presumably because it was rushed. Which is a shame because we'd looked forward to it all day and it just put a damper on the night.

I don't know if they have issues with however they schedule cake orders, but I hope...

The bread is actually really good… their customer service, though is not. They are very unorganized. It’s such a hassle to order a cake and when you do, something goes wrong. We ordered our gender reveal cake from them which was delicious but they lost our ultrasound with our baby’s gender. We decided to let it go and give it another try so I decided to order one for my husbands birthday since he liked the first one so much. their IG says you can order in person or call we drove from Modesto only to be told the person who takes the order wasn’t there so they told us to call the next day. I messaged them on IG and they apparently can’t take orders via that either. I called a few times until I got an answer then was told they only take orders in person -__- and if I did order I had to pick up after 4pm when I needed the cake by noon. Mind you this was over 48 hours prior to my event which again, is what their IG asks for. Sad because we really do...

I am giving this bakery 3 stars, not because of the quality of their bread but because this is the second time I place a custom order for conchas with DAYS in ADVANCE and they STILL GOT IT WRONG!!! The first time they gave my order to someone else claiming that we had the same name, yet we have different last names and they also take your phone number which is obviously NOT the same! Second time I ordered they said they would not be ready until almost 2 hrs after the requested time, which for me was impossible giving it was for a funeral out of town. Both orders were placed days in advance. The issue is also that they don't even care to make it up to you, they pretty much told me this is what happened take it or leave it. So if you decide to order custom, I would not recommend it, you will be disappointed.
