Galaxy Hamburgers — Restaurant in Cerritos

PREFACE: Please notice that I referred to Galaxy Hamburgers as a diner instead of a hamburger joint. Although it may have been accurate when the restaurant was established, the "Hamburgers" portion of their name is now a misnomer and slightly misleading since they serve WAY more than just hamburgers. Also, I spent the better part of my childhood living down the street from Galaxy so it holds a special place in my heart. I can remember eating here with my family and friends dating back well over 20 years.

Now on to the review which I will categorize for ease of reading since I have a tendency of being a little wordy. 😄...

LOCATION: Galaxy Hamburgers is nestled on the fringe of a large industrial park that is rooted in the city of Cerritos, but also borders the city of Norwalk. To be honest, it isn't surrounded by the most captivating of scenery, but it is a clean and safe area. The Northern part of Cerritos is home to a host of manufacturing and distributing companies, including a large UPS hub, and Galaxy is on the outer part of it. Please don't get the wrong idea, this area is completely safe day and night. I grew up down the street and spent the better part of my youth skateboarding throughout the surrounding industrial complexes at all hours of the day and night, so trust me, I know.

AMBIANCE/INTERIOR: The staff of Galaxy Hamburgers do an excellent job of maintaining their restaurant. Yes, it could use an exterior facelift, but the exterior grounds and interior are always clean and nothing but presentable. Also, if you need to use the facilities, their restrooms are clean, sanitary, and well-maintained. One thing I have to mention about this place is that the walls are decorated with pictures of youth sports teams. All of these pictures are of teams that are/were sponsored by Galaxy Hamburgers. I love this aspect of their business because it shows how much that truly care about their local community. For me this is especially touching since I grew up in the area because I recognize many faces in those pictures.

STAFF: I can't say enough about the staff of Galaxy Hamburgers. In my many dining experiences at Galaxy over a couple decades, they have always been courteous, respectful, helpful, and happy. It is one of those places that has a family feel to it when it comes to the staff and I appreciate that. They don't seem frantic or stressed, just happy to be at work and dedicated to maximizing their guest's satisfaction.

FOOD: Galaxy Hamburgers has an extensive menu. Upon ordering, all food is prepared in an open kitchen with nothing pre-cooked or left warming under a heat lamp. Their menu ranges from hamburgers (duh!) to authentic Mexican fare, with breakfast and vegetarian options available. As another reviewer mentioned, their portions are definitely on the large side. If you get an order of fries it will most-likely be plenty for two people if not more, depending on how hungry you are. As far as flavor and quality go...Galaxy is second to none in my opinion (yes, In 'N Out is included in this statement). I no longer live in the area, but live within an hour's drive and I sometimes crave the food of Galaxy Hamburgers. I could go down the street to get a good burger, but for me Galaxy is in a class of its own so I'm willing to make the drive. It's hard to describe because if you were to glance at their menu it would seem standard, but through all my worldly travels, Galaxy's food is in my top five for casual dining.

CONCLUSION: All I can say in summary is just go to Galaxy if you're in the area. It's not gonna put a dent in your wallet and the food is phenomenal. If you've got kids then even better, give them a couple quarters and let them play at the Claw arcade game while you wait for your food. I really love this place and have since I was five years old when my family moved to the area. I want to be able to take my grandchildren to Galaxy some day so please show your support. Update 1/28/23 - Best breakfast burrito in town, hands down!! Some say the best breakfast burritos in the North OC area exist in certain places arpund Buena Park, Cypress, Placentia, or Fullerton but for me, Galaxy Burger hits & nails it!!! Finally tried the pastrami breakfast burrito! This is fully loaded! Perfect amount of hash browns, eggs, cheese and definitely a good amount of delicious pastrami meat!! Every bite to me is savory, especially with both green and red sauces on the side!! Way enough for 2 servings! Perfect to share! Mmmm good! Super friendly service too and for the times I've been here, the wait wasn't long! I love breakfast burritos and this is my go to! Now have tried the pastrami, sausage and Portuguese sausage varities here and pastrami is my number 1!! Thanks Galaxy Burger!! Thumbs way up!!

Delicious breakfast burrito! I picked sausage and got it to-go. Enormous (enough for two!), filling and perfect balance of sausage, egg, potatoes and cheese. Some other places overload on the potatoes but they nailed it here, perfect amounts! Also got both red & green sauces! Now my go-to in the neighborhood! Very friendlary service and fast!
