I do NOT understand what's going on with this place. I did Taco Tuesday last week. And had THEE worst service and food. I was told that the same cooks that were working Cowboy Monkey kitchen, were now at Gudio's. This can't be true!
I order the pork tacos and Chicken strips. The Pork was very dry and overcooked the Chicken Strips were hard and unseasoned. And the Mexican Mule, I'm sure didn't have any alcohol in it at all.
I asked for a Lemon for my water. I was brought a glass lemons pieces, told the server, who wasn't the person that took our order, I only wanted one slice of lemon for the water.
After the food was brought, they just left us outside. No one came and checked on us. I had to go inside to ask for the check. There were like maybe, 5 customers inside. So they weren't busy. It was about 3:30pm on a Tuesday.
Got the check and the waitress charged me $1.00 for the lemons! When I talked to her about the charged she told me she was the manager and they charged for lemons. I asked her why didn't she tell me this before. She said she thought I knew this. Ahahaha How would I known this? Who charges for a Lemon slice??
I've never been charged for a garnish. Never anywhere. I've eaten at Gudio's for YEARS and NEVER been charged for pieces of lemons. She refused to take it off. I was very surprised and disappointed by the service and food.
This is one of my favorite DT Champaign restaurants, I'm always recommending them to everyone. I understand things are difficult and it's hard to keep good workers. But Gudio's gotta do...
Read moreAs a bartender here I'm biased and think it's a great place so feel free to ignore my rating. But, I WOULD like to offer some information on the "over charging" situation. I'm actually the Saturday/Sunday morning bartender and as such I get a lot of calls from folks that went out the previous night concerning their bills and what looks like a double charge, large tip, overcharge, etc. I'll just give the same information I give my concerned callers. :)
When we swipe your card to start a tab it sends out a request to your bank to see if there's enough money to cover the cost. Our system is set to do this in $25 increments. It then places a temporary hold on that money (since we're now counting on it being there to cover your bill). As your bill increases past that $25 increment (because you are adding drinks/food to it throughout the night) our system sends out additional $25 increment preauthorization requests. At the end of the night when we close out your tab only your bill amount (plus tip, if you choose to leave one on your card) is taken out of the account. The remainder of the money that had a hold on it is released. Sometimes, depending on the bank, this takes a few days to fully process out of the hold.
If anyone wants to avoid preauthorization holds on their account we have an ATM in our lobby for everyone's convenience. :) This review doesn't necessarily represent the opinion of Guido's--It's just what I tell people so they can rest assured we would never over charge the people that make our establishment...
Read moreWalked in on a relatively chill Saturday night and I was frankly so surprised by how rude the staff were. We were looking for a place to grab a late bite to eat and after the doorman confirmed to us the kitchen was still open, we walked in and got a table. Several waiters walked right past us even as we tried to flag them down, so we went to the bar to order. I asked the guy behind the bar if we could order food, to which he responded “the kitchen closes in 10 minutes.” I asked “so could we order food?” And he said “I don’t know bro, ask a bartender and figure it out.” I was like ??? And then finally we got ahold of a waiter. He told us the kitchen was closed, and after I told him the guy at the door told us it was open, he said “well the door guys never talk to the kitchen, so idk.” I asked him if he could ask the kitchen to confirm if they were closed, and he scoffed and just walked away. I didn’t know I could be impressed by how rude and bad staff are at a place (and I was a waiter all throughout college), but...
