To say I am appalled is an understatement. I am a restaurant owner in Wilmington, NC and my guests are THE MOST IMPORTANT thing to me. Your hours CLEARLY advertise closing is 9pm. We left UNC Hospital and headed to Brenz to grab dinner to-go as we are staying at the ALoft. We walked into the establishment at 8:31pm. 5 people were eating at the tables to the left. We approached the counter and told the girl with the piercings in her face that we wanted to place a to-go order. She told us we will not take your order; we are closing. No sign on the door; no notification on your Google or Yelp accounts. We asked why considering your hours state you close at 9pm and she just shrugged her shoulders and said we were told. This was the final straw as this was not our first bad experience with this place. The first time we went in a month ago they had the doors wide open and flies were everywhere. And the sewage smell; bad. Understanding restaurants in the manner I do, I chalked the sewage smell up to a possible complex issue.
One thing of for sure, we will not be back. If growing the Brenz business is the intention of the owners (noted by the advertising in hotels and on public transportation seen around Chapel Hill) I would consider who I had running my business. You just lost 3 guests with a lot of friends and family in the area. We are up here weekly from Wilmington and always stay at the ALoft. To be a customer and be dismissed in the rudest manner possible is the worst thing that could’ve happened. Word of mouth, consistency and loyalty in this industry...
Read moreI’ve been a customer at Brenz for many years, but I’m disappointed to say that a recent customer service experience here will change that. Unfortunately, there are five reviews within the last four months just here on Google reflecting similar issues (poor service/delivery issues/problematic verbal comments from staff).
After ordering delivery via DoorDash, the restaurant informed my delivery driver that they did not have my order only for me to call and verify that they actually did have the order and it was never made. My return call to address the issue was placed on “hold” which was actually an open mic line where I could hear all discussions being had by the staff about my situation and other customer situations.
Brenz management and ownership should be appalled and embarrassed by the things I heard and more generally by the way this situation was handled (or not handled).
If this is the way their team members are willing to act when I can unknowingly hear them, I’d be curious to know what else they may do when they believe a customer is unaware.
I love(d) Brenz, and I am disappointed this happened but feel others should know to avoid...
Read moreI ordered pizza for pickup was Brenz Pizza for tonight and was left disappointed.
The biggest disappointment was the service I experienced when picking up my pizzas. When I arrived there was one other customer at the counter and a cashier on the phone taking an order. The customer in front of me waited almost 10 minutes before someone helped her pick up her order. After the cashier was finished with her order, he walked away to the back without even acknowledging that I was waiting to be helped. I waited another 7-10 minutes before he or anyone acknowledged I was there to pick up my pizza. Had I not already paid for my pizzas I would have walked out.
Once I was helped, the cashier brought the pizzas up and had me sign the receipt but never provided me a copy. I was never asked if I wanted to double check the pizzas to ensure they were correct. At this point it was already 20 mins past my pick up time and I was ready to leave so I didn't bother saying anything. Turns out I ended up paying for an ingredient that was never put on one of my pizzas.
The pizza itself was decent but definitely not worth the premium price they...
