Cool spot to grab a drink, but there are a few things you should know before going! We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and parked way down the street (the only place you can park since there is no parking in front of the bar). If you have mobility issues, you may want to reconsider this location. It would be nice of there was some sort of golf cart shuttle on busy days to take patrons from the bar to the parking area. Also know that the parking area floods on a rainy day and you'll be hopping over huge puddles to climb into your vehicle.
The bar itself is super cute and the outdoor area is fantastic. It happened to downpour rain and it seemed there was a good bit of space to house everyone under their covered patio until the rain let up and we could enjoy their lovely dockside bar area. Drinks were cold and beer well priced. We got up to leave around 3:30 only to be blocked in by a train. We called the bar and were told that this is normal during the 3-4:00 hour. So don't plan on visiting unless you're okay being BLOCKED IN FOR AT LEAST AM HOUR. We turned around and decided to stay a bit longer and ordered food. The mahi bites are small (would maybe appear like more food if served on a smaller plate) and the conch fritters were tasty and felt like a sizable portion but we're slightly burnt. There was a nice breeze on the water so I'd probably recommend this place for a drink and water view. Staff was friendly and helpful. This place is new and has a few things to figure out but has...
Read moreThis was a great find.... finally. I always knew about where it was located but finally made time to go with family while I was visiting. Anyways, I didn't know it was shared in the same building as the Marina and Ships Store. I saw the old County Jail, so I knew I was close. Parking was non-existent close, but we saw people walking over bridge. Since you cannot park past the sign, see photo, you can park along the road and walk in. Only issue is that we needed a handicap parking space and didn't see a sign outside that said handicap parking available, nor a small sign that would identify where Island Cabana Bar was at off the road. (A small sign with arrow would be great) . Looking at the building from the road there isn't any "Island" identification. We didn't drive in at first, being wary of the sign.
Anyways, the food was great! We had Blackened fish tacos, Shrimp rolls, Buffalo Fries Oysters, and "Tidewater" Shrimp. The beer was great as I expected. Prices were fair for the food we got too. It was quick service. The wait staff, server and Chef were excellent and friendly.
We will definitely go back, hopefully with warmer weather! Also we did find the handicap parking after we walked in. One space at...

There aren't many waterfront spots on this side of the peninsula, so it's nice to grab a drink with a view of the bridge. They basically just opened up the boat club shop to the public, so you'll see guys going fishing and people with their families and everybody in between taking out their center consoles, so there's always something to watch. This place is serve yourself for the most part, so head to the back and pick out a $5-8 single (or bucket) out of the fridge. The canned wines are the best deal. Only gets 4 out of 5 because there's honestly not much going on and parking is pretty terrible, but they're making do with what they've got. We didn't try any of the food but they've got a very solid menu at good prices, so I can't speak to that but it all looked great. Definitely a quick date spot, everyone was coupled up and talking quietly when we were there. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon or if you're one of the lucky ones with a boat, but not much else. I'm glad it's here, but don't go out of your way to check this off the list if you're not local or...
