I am not sure how this restaurant has as many positive reviews as it does. Maybe it has just recently gone downhill? Nonetheless, we had a pretty bad experience today. This was our first time trying Los Potrillos and I have to say that we probably won't be back. When we first got there, we were not sat for several minutes even though the place didn't look busy for a Sunday. An employee was within eyesight but we were not greeted. Once we were seated, it took quite awhile for someone to take our order. The waiter seemed nice enough but forgot both what we ordered and what drinks we wanted several times. We got complimentary chips and salsa, but the salsa was incredibly bland with no seasoning of any kind. The first meal, fajitas, came out relatively quickly. My friend said the rice was bland, the refried beans were okay, and the fajitas themself were not seasoned well. After awhile, my meal of chimichangas came out. I agree that the rice was incredibly bland. My chimichangas were covered with a tasty cheese sauce, but the deliciousness stopped there. The chicken filling was pale and unseasoned with a few clumps of tasteless green pepper thrown in. It then took an additional 15-20 minutes for my fiance's meal to come out, at which point my friend and I were almost done eating. My fiance got tamales that fit the theme - they had barely any filling and were tasteless as well. Overall, it was not a good experience. In addition to the food being incredibly bland, we had to ask several times for basic things like silverware and drink refills. Additionally, we noticed a large beetle in the air vent above us while waiting for our food. Overall, it seemed like cleaning the place was not a priority. I did a quick Google and found out that the restaurant was shut down for a cockroach infestation two...
Read moreWe went for a birthday party today for my step-mom. They were busy, but not too busy at the time. We made sure to mention to the waiter that it was her birthday dinner today, and were told that they would make sure to celebrate it. Nothing was done to celebrate it at all. Once we were seated, we were handed menus and our waiter walked away. My sister had to ask twice for kids menus, silverware, and another order of cheese. Our drink order wasn't taken until we ordered our food because our waiter seemed more interested in talking to his coworker who was there eating with some of her friends at the time. Even going as far to give her $5 to go and play the games. Once we finally ordered, it took quite some time to get our food. Two meals were brought out, then roughly about 10-15 mintues later the rest was brought out. This was my first, and most likely last time coming...
Read moreWe stopped by on our way to Chicago for Spring Break! The food, the service, the atmosphere was incredible! We saw on another review that this is the BEST restaurant in Charleston, and after eating here, I can easily say it's one of the BEST places we've ever dined at! The food was so fresh, piping hot, our drinks were filled before they were even half way empty, and we were treated like family! Thank you for taking such great care of our travel weary crew. The experience was top tier! Tony, you have such a special place and we all feel ready for the last leg of our trip, with our bellies and hearts full! Thanks so much, Joe, Hollie, Gloria (the grandma), (The Kids) Gavin, Nevaeh, Hadassah, and the...
