WHAT HAPPENED TO MS. ROSES??? We have been here multiple times in the last year and have always had a wonderful experience. ALWAYS. Food has always been spot on, service was great... We stopped in because we had family in town and we wanted them to have some good food without having to go downtown. We arrived at about 7:00 pm on a Tuesday night. The hostess greeted us but then made about 6 laps around the restaurant before communicating to us what was happening and why she was not seating us. There were probably 8 tables seated and 4 people at the bar. It was NOT busy. After we were seated, it was quite a few minutes before a server approached our table. We ordered two beers and a glass of wine. After about 10 to 12 minutes (wow!) the two beers finally arrived. The server came back after dropping the beer and said she forgot to let us know that they were out of the wine that was ordered. Another order was placed, and another 10 minutes passed before the glass of wine was brought to the table. As we sat at our table, we counted multiple occasions where 6 or 7 plates of food sat under the heat lamps for 8 to 10 minutes. Just sat there. Nobody running the hot food even though there were people around... We ordered crispy rice fritters, fried green tomatoes (always great) and buttermilk biscuits. The rice fritters were new for us and quite good. They made us two extra because two of the original order had popped in the fryer and were empty inside. The fried green tomatoes were good, but just warm, like they had sat under that heat lamp. For dinner we ordered the salmon salad, a turkey reuben, a caprese grilled cheese sandwich, and the prime rib sandwich. The food was good, but not what we had been looking forward to sharing with our guest. I am not sure if the poor service just really ruined the whole experience for us or what... truly underwhelming. We hope to be back for a better experience, but it will take a while to get...
Read moreI’ll start by saying that the food and service were great. The restaurant has cool features like an outside deck with entertaining games (perfect for the active little one that was with our party). An art deco wall made out of plates. The wooden partition walls around the booths just makes for a warm cozy feel. We went early on Sunday for brunch right as the restaurant was opening (10:00AM). We were told by the hostess we needed reservations and the whole party had to be there in order to get seated. The place was empty with the exception of servers and bar tenders standing around talking to each other.
When our entire party (6 people) were assembled, the hostess ignored us for what seemed 5 minutes or more. It was obvious she was not going to seat us. Another young lady (server) walked up to the hostess desk and noticed that the hostess and a young man (host) were ignoring us and looking at something on his phone. The young female server stood there for a few minutes and finally said “they’ve been waiting to be seated.” The hostess ignored her too and continued to look at the phone. She finally sat us at a table. I was appalled by the way we were treated by the hostess. The restaurant only started to get more guests around 11:00AM. But, it never entirely filled up as there were several large tables that were empty the entire time we were there. We left right around noon. Food was slow coming out of the kitchen and they got my order wrong.
We had so many other really cool choices of eating establishments as we were staying in Mt. Pleasant. We chose your establishment even though it was out of the way for us. Please realize that you're not the only gig in town and folks can go elsewhere and get treated...
Read moreI tried Mrs. Roses brunch with a group of friends, 6 total, and sadly we were very disappointed. The food, speed of service, and prices were all very bad.
We did have a great waitress, however, you could tell that she was being overworked with tables.
Food/Drink Wait: I’m not sure if they were completely understaffed (inside was dead when we got there, whole reason we asked to sit outside as there were a couple other tables of people out there). We waited about an hour for our food after serving. Drinks took about 15-20 minutes to arrive. The drink prices were around $9-$13 per drink.
Food: Our table ordered the Low Country Benny and the eggs were overcooked, which for all you eggs Benedict lovers know that this really ruins the whole meal. We also ordered the brunch burger, ordered it medium, and it came out well done. The Brisket Breakfast Sandwich was extremely plain with some brisket, 2 slices of cheddar cheese (not cooked enough), and jam. The average price of these dishes was $15.
Prices: Mrs. Roses is quite expensive. For my wife and I, our tab was $45 without tip. That included a brunch burger, brisket breakfast sandwich, and 2 bloody Mary drinks with house vodka. So $54 with a 20% tip. Just sadly not worth it at all.
Overall Mrs. Roses majorly dropped the ball in the prices, food, and time in regards to being served food/drinks. I sadly would recommend you to go to another brunch...
