We came here for what was supposed to be a victory sushi meal after escaping an escape room nearby — sort of our little celebration dinner. We did a quick search for sushi spots and this one came up, but when we arrived we were surprised to find it was more of a sports pub than a sushi restaurant. That’s on us for not checking more carefully, but once we were there, we decided to stay and try the food. Looking at the menu, we skipped the sushi entirely (we just couldn’t bring ourselves to take the risk in a bar setting) and went with pub food — a burger (ordered medium-well) with tater tots and chicken tenders with fries. Unfortunately, this is where the experience really went downhill. The burger came out very well done, completely dry, and had no seasoning whatsoever. The tater tots were greasy, under-seasoned, and unappetizing. The chicken tenders were bland and didn’t have any flavor to them, which made the overcooked fries even more disappointing. We usually rate and discuss our food like amateur critics while eating, and we both agreed this meal was actually worse than Wendy’s pre-COVID quality — and that says a lot. The only positive here was the service. Our waitress was quick and friendly, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the food quality just didn’t match the price point. We ended up spending more money here for a disappointing pub meal than we did at Church and Union, which was a far superior experience. Overall, this was a miss for us. Can’t speak for the sushi since we didn’t try it, but based on what we did eat, we would not come back.

I came to locals tonight after work for some good sushi and I had one of the most terrible experiences l ever had. Those who know me personally know that I don’t complain in restaurants because I worked in the food industry previously and it’s a tough field. My group of four sat at the high top that seats eight. We knew we had a fifth joining us so our server told us to hold a seat so they didn’t accidentally seat another party beside us (the server was lovely). As our sushi arrived, an overweight balding man approached my fifth friend (who was in the middle of eating) and got in her face aggressively, instructing her to move so he could seat another party. Before she could respond (she quite literally had food in her mouth) he began shoving her plates towards our side, hitting all of our plates and knocking cups in the process. When he did this, he knocked one of our drinks and said nothing. Menus were on the other side, and he placed them on top of the edges of the plates (with food still on them). I’ve never had a manager be so disrespectful and rude to me and friends. We will never return to this establishment. The sushi is great and the servers are nice. I hope the manager got my note on my receipt.

Im not sure why we keep going back. The service is always lacking. But not sure its always their fault. Last two times we have been sat at community tables and only having two bartenders to tend the bar, make the rest of the restaurants drinks and then wait on tables is too much. Someone actually everyone suffers. The customers get poor service the bartenders are not able to give their best service which results in poor tips. But on the flip side we have sat at regular tables and still had poor service. Im not sure we have ever been and not had our order missed or messed up in some way and thats alot of times. Im not sure what happened last night but a order of krab nigiri got missed got a double order of octopus instead of a single and the scallop shashmi i have no words for. I actually went to the bathroom to spit them out Ive ordered or tried to order the scallops every time we come in. Sometimes they have them sometimes not but since they moved to west ashley they have never came out the same way. Used to be slices with lemon in between last night chunks in a cucumber also being avid sushi eaters we can tell when you pass tilapia off as yellowtail looks similar taste different.

I have been a patron of Locals in Mt Pleasant for several years and tried their Park Circle location today at The Mixson Club. I have also been a patron there for the past several summers. It is my understanding that they rent their space from The Mixson which is a private club that you pay a membership fee to join and also pay monthly dues. You are not allowed to bring in outside food and beverages so you are reliant upon Locals to provide those for you. Locals could have chosen any location in Park Circle to open a restaurant and yet they chose to be a part of The Mixson knowing that part of the service they provide is to a members only club that provides poolside service to its patrons. Customers that are at the pool are not allowed in the restaurant without shoes so you have to wait for servers to bring menus and take your order. I was a part of a group of 25 people who reserved a cabana for a special occasion. The waitress was unaware that we had reserved it and was clearly overwhelmed at the large group. We asked for menus and she went back inside the restaurant to get them and informed the manager that we had been rude. I'm unclear if she perceived us as being demanding by asking for menus or if she was simply overwhelmed by the size of the group. At no time was anyone rude to her. Most of us in the group have worked in food/bev for many years and I myself am a former restaurant owner, so we are all more cognizant of how to treat wait staff. Some members of the group were wanting to go ahead and get drinks and were about to head into the restaurant when our host informed them they could not go in without shoes and in wet bathing suits. At this exact moment, a man named Harris identified himself as the owner and took offense to that and also said he didn't appreciate us being rude to his waitress. We tried to explain that no-one had been rude to her but he kept interuppting and would not let us speak and then proceeded to use profanity and abusive language. We were dumbfounded and decided to go and get food outside the club and bring it in for the hungry guests who were waiting. The general manager of The Mixson was very apologetic and honestly didnt know what to say either because she was just as shocked as us. We made the best of the day and were actually packing up when Harris came outside for the sole purpose of antagonizing us again. We were a group of women with children and 1 elderly person and he clearly was acting as a bully. It was the most unprofessional behaivor I ever witnessed from an owner of a restaurant, if he really is indeed one at all. He was seen doing shots with customers so I'm guessing that his egregious behavior was due to him being innibriated which is highly unprofessional. I hope that The Mixson will rethink their decision to partner with Locals. I don't think they have the same objective which is to provide excellent customer service to their members. This type of abusive behavior towards women should not be tolerated and I also hope that the other owners of Locals look into this incident and see that Harris is a detriment to their organization. As long as he is a part of this restaurant group I will not be a patron and I will not recommend them to the numerous people I come in contact with in my tourism and...

Not sure where to begin, this is the first negative review I have written ever, I frequent Locals of Mount Pleasant weekly, my office is next door. I was so excited that PC would have this new addition to the community I live in. I am a member of mixson bath & racquet and have been happy with every experience I have had since they moved in, also had a wonderful conversation the evening before with the chef. Saturday, one of the staff members was overwhelmed and someone complained to them in whatever manner, I am unsure of. The owner found me, thought it was me and he Approached me in an aggressive manner. He would not stop talking long enough to listen for me to explain that he has the wrong customer. After I turned my back he stated that I was acting like a “fking @$$hole.” Thank God for the amazing staff of Mixson Bath & Raquet who tried to diffuse the situation. We thought it would be best to not interact with Locals today, which honestly was disappointing we were looking forward to their sushi. As upsetting as the day began,we decided to make the best of the day. Even the server, Gabby admitted to me that she didn’t realize he was talking to me that way Because I didn’t do anything. I explained that unfortunately we both got in the middle of a huge misunderstanding and it was all good. Toward the end of the day my grandma myself my daughter and nephew were sitting by the pool with another party talking and Harris, came outside approach the party and began to use profanity directed at me again. I am not sure why Harris has it out for me I had not interacted with him or his staff that day, Soo many witnesses saw and heard him, verbally assault me. In front of my small children. My husband who also witnessed this encounter ( I don’t think Harris realized he was my husband) approached him on the matter. Where Harris immediately changed his tone. Once 2 more men also walked up. Harris has to make sure we all knew he was a marine. ( way to represent🙄preying on easy targets like women and children) My husband whom is also in the business asked him, if one of your employees came out here and talked to one of your customers the way you just talked to my wife, you would fire them... so what makes you any different? I have to agree. I really think Harris should stick to software, apparently customer service isn’t his fit, I also feel like Art Martin and Jessen Cooke should reconsider who they have on the front lines dragging their businesses down. I can not begin to express the number of people that could attest to the completely inappropriate display demonstrated yesterday by the owner who claims “I am the owner what the f@ are you going to do about it” culture that he has professed to be their new “standard” Farewell locals, I can’t support a business that has this kind of leadership. I feel sorry for the staff who has witnessed your behavior and the example you set for them. Good luck with your PC location, this is a family driven area where we as a community believe in supporting each other and lifting them up. Hope this in the end turns out as a lesson...

The service was beyond horrible. I took my wife and kid to Locals to get some sushi and tacos. When we arrived there were a few tables, 4 or 5, and a young man picking up to go food. We waited at the hostess stand for 5 minutes before we were greeted. We saw multiple waitresses walking around I'm the back where the hot kitchen is, several made eye contact but went on to do their side work and put off sitting us until they were finally ready. Our waitress got our drinks and tool our order, and then we waited about 30 minutes for our food. We ordered 3 rolls, 3 tacos, and an order of wontons. They brought out the wontons and about 2 minutes later the sushi. We never received our tacos. We finished our food and waited even longer. Eventually about an 30 minutes after getting our meal the waitress cane over to bring us the check, and my wife said we were still waiting for the tacos. The waitress told her she didn't order tacos, and we were both like... yeah we did. She walked off, checked the kitchen, then checked the computer and then came back and said again that either we didn't order them or she didn't hear us. We insisted we ordered them, and before we could say just don't worry about it she walked away again. We were sat right next to the server station where they ring in the food, and while we were waiting another 45 minutes for our tacos we could hear the waitress complaining about us and how she must have not heard my wife. The other server asked her what was wrong with her table and she said I don't know, I don't even have their food. I could see the kitchen from my seat and watched several to go order get boxed up and the servers were doing side work (filling sauces and folding silverware) and eventually I saw the chef put a plate of tacos in the window. They sat there, I looked at my phone when they were put up, and it took our server 12 minutes to even acknowledge that they were up. I could see the manager walking around in the back not really checking on anything, and I could see the chef standing in the food window playing on his phone. When the server brought us our tacos she gave us the check and walked away. I asked why it's took so long to bring them over and that I saw the chef put them in the window 12 minutes ago, and she said they just came up. I just bit my tongue at that point, gave her my card and finished our food. They didn't comp anything, the manager never came over to check on us, and we never even got one refill on our drinks.

The sushi was average, nothing special bit incredibly small portion in the rolls. The tacos were gross. The shells were stale, the steak was like leather, there was barely any chim churry on them and they were cold (as expected after watching them sit in the window for 12 minutes).

We will never go back to Locals. Food was barely average, nothing special but with the tiniest portions and the issue with the tacos, it was not worth the $80. The service though, that was the part that was the most offending. You could just tell not one person in there cared, from the cooks to the servers to...
