This was actually a very pleasant time visit, the bad part is th at I had just placed a missing persons report for my fiancee. I spent the next 8 days(no overnights) in thís part of town, the East End near the Capital Complex, diligently trying to find someone who had spotted her there. I caught a break, because a manager of one of the nearby restaurants, remembered seeing her the first day I arrived. I asked where she was and he told me that he would tell the police where she was, not me! I got kinda sore at him, but then again , I could be a serial killer who is stalking and even domestically abusing her, so I understood his reluctance to give any info to me at the time. And keep in mind that other personnel corroborate his story, and said they stood there talking for approx 30 minutes or so. So I was interested in seeing where this information was leading to. But the police says he talked to her and she left and he hadn't seen her since, and had no idea where she was hanging out or who she was hanging out with. This was puzzling, but I accepted the info and commenced staking out the area, as I said, for the next 8 days missing her by moments at times, or so it would, and Wendy's was headquarters of my Investigative efforts. I love Wendys, but forgive me for not wanting their food 8 days in a row, both lunch and breakfast and 1 dinner thrown in, anytime soon. But the food was excellently prepared, the atmosphere was calming, and the mgmt offered as much assistance as they could in the given situation, and the crew promised me that they would keep their eyes peeled and alert me if there was a sighting, and everyday, like I say somebody saw her and I would miss her by minutes 3 different times so I was hopeful that I would bump into her soon! I must explain that my fiancee is diagnosed with schizo-effective disorder, which is a much milder form of schizophrenia. The voices, delusion, and depression and anxiety are present by not at the level of the before mentioned diagnosis, yet she has her moments when her disease takes over and she can wander at any given moment, as a child does and be far removed from the vicinity and need rescuing. It's all innocent and she just needs to stay focused and she's on top of making good choices most of the time, but at other times, even with her meds stabilized and with no recent episodes under her belt, she can still drift at times. I liken her mindset, at these trying times, to a severe case of ADHD, which requires continual monitoring . I have to be focused as well for her and be able to empathize with her efforts to be normal and not be frustrated or to show frustration, because her days are accomplishments in themselves. She tries very hard to do the right thing, but we all have our moments. I wouldn't trade my days with her her for anything in the world, and I was faithful that God would see fit to give her the means to return home safely. But here's where the twist comes in. On the 8th day, as I was speaking king to her mom as i had been doing for the last 8 days faithfully , she told me that my girl had been arrested for some tickets from 2017, and had been in jail the whole 8 days, under lock and key. I wouldnt wish jail on my worse enemy, but today I was thankful for that place, and was glad that she was not hurt, or worse. I thank God for protecting her and helping me to be the surety that she needs to stay encouraged and focused in this journey that...
Read moreWendy's on Washington Street is not far from the West Virginia State Capitol building in Charleston, West Virginia.
I was driven here by a friend of my late identical twin brother who died in April 2025. He ate his last meal at this Wendy's before his death, after a hard fall on the sidewalk that caused brain bleeding. I was told he only managed to eat a few bites of his last meal.
I went three or four times to this Wendy's, and usually, I ordered the bacon hamburger with three hamburger slices, sauce, bacon, lettuce, onions, and bun. The bun could have been toasted more so it would not have fallen apart. I don't drink Coca-Cola, so I ordered a water. Although the first triple hamburger had a warm bun, the second time, the bun felt ice cold, and it was not toasted, so it fell apart as I was eating. You must get plenty of napkins because your fingers will be coated with sauce while eating.
If you go in the morning before 10:30 AM, you can order a breakfast special: biscuit with egg, cheese and bacon for only $1. My coffee was $1.89 and a friend's large Cherry Coca-Cola was just $1.00. A real bargain.
The cashier failed to give me the correct change, so I had to tell her that she owed me $1.00. I was not given a paper receipt from the cash register. Count your change so you won't be cheated.
The inside is quiet and austere, and it is well air-conditioned. The tables were not all cleaned, and there was water dripping from the ceiling onto the floor in one area. The toilets are clean, but I did notice some homeless people coming inside to have a drink while cooling off or to use the toilet.
Credit, debit cards, and cash are accepted. There is plenty of parking and a drive-in window for take-out orders.
The prices are almost half of what other sandwich places charge. If you want a filling meal, Wendy's is fine. But, like many fast-food businesses, you are getting too much fat, sodium, and calories, and sodas such as Coca-Cola are filled with...
Read moreI typically avoid major-chain fast food.. This particular Wendy's, however, caught my attention. My wife and I stopped by needing a quick meal for the whole "office" and we were very impressed with the quality of service and the delicious meal. Having utilized two other Wendy's restaurants in the past year or so I can attest that their overall quality was orders of magnitude better than the other locations. The front staff was friendly, attentive, and seemed to have great communication with the rest of the crew. We ordered a little bit of everything including burgers, chicken, salad, frosties, etc. Nothing had sat under warmers long enough to tell. Everything that should be hot was hot, crispy was crispy, the salads looked great, and the frosties were quite perfect. This can only happen under quality management that cares about product quality and customer satisfaction. Sure as heck beat the dry stale rubbery disappointing mess that is a typical Wendy's meal. I don't post a whole lot of reviews... this place just made that good of an impression on me. PLEASE keep up the good work! Tell your staff thank you.. ...
