Outta Time eXcape Rooms — Local services in Charleston

This is an absolutely amazing escape room experience! The online booking process is easy. The business entrance is clearly marked and close street parking is available. Without giving away too much, upon arrival you are greeted with a contactless introduction. You're briefed on your mission and directed through the facility. Free lockers (with keys) are provided as a courtesy to store your personal belongings. The building is tidy and clean, with hand sanitizer generously provided throughout the areas. The decor is creative and very well done. I'd recommend taking a minute to look around and take it all in - it's awesome. It's obvious that the owner aims to provide a safe, fun experience to customers. We attempted (yet sadly barely failed) the "Poe's Lament" room. The clues and mechanisms were very thoughtful, challenging, and further added to the story. If you need assistance, there are some options available. Overall, my bf and I had a wonderful time at Outta Time eXcape Rooms. I would absolutely recommend this destination for both newbies and experienced escape room fans. My wife took me here over the weekend for my birthday with some friends. I was very excited as we have been to probably over 30 escape rooms since we've been married. Let me say, this experience was probably one of the best ones yet. However, the experience was almost entirely ruined by the game master who was over the radio. I like to think we know what we are doing in an escape room (again, we have been to numerous ones). You have to work as a team and quickly. There were a few locks and aspects of the game that did not work right or were confusing. I could go into specifics, but I don't want to give away the secrets of the room. When we brought it up over the radio we were told "You all keep breaking things" "We have never had anyone mess so many things up in the 4 years this room has been running" and the best one of all "Well, you all (expletive) up that clue". Needless to say, we were pretty upset going through the rest of the game and it really ruined what would have been a great experience. Not sure why you would insult your customers in that way and hope it was just a bad day for that employee, but I don't think we will be going back again, and unless you want to be cursed out by making a wrong move, maybe you...

We've been wanting to do this for a while, but rarely know everyone's schedule 24 hours in advance so it was difficult to actually get ourselves there. I'm so glad we were able finally do a room though because it was fantastic. Our family of 4 and two friends of our teenagers did the "Christmas with the Quantumz" room. It was great! All of the puzzles made sense and everything went along with the theme quite nicely. When we walked in, I really felt like I was back in the 1980's in my grandparent's house. Embarrassingly, we needed help getting started because we all overlooked a key item. (You'd think we were amateurs.) We needed two hints overall, but we managed to escape and walked out feeling like it was money well spent. We enjoyed the room and had fun spending family time together.
