We were really excited when this location opened, but each time we get food to go, the food is never ready in a reasonable amount of time. Today, we ordered 2 jerk shrimp meals, a jerk chicken meal, and a shrimp and chicken pasta. We were told the food would be ready in 15-25 mins. Got there after about 35 mins and were told it would be 15-25 more mins. We waited 25 mins and were told it would be ANOTHER 15-25 MINUTES. By this time, it was well over an hour since the original order and we were bringing the food to a family dinner, so I asked them if there was something already prepared so that we didn't have to wait another indefinite amount of time just to be told 15-25 more mins. They said they could replace the shrimp with chicken, so I said ok. 15 mins later, they handed me a bag stapled shut. I got to the dinner and opened the bag to find only 3 dinners instead of the 4 that was originally ordered. So nobody in the family got what they wanted and we all had to share since we were 1 meal short.
Long story short, although the staff here seem nice enough, there is a significant problem with the management. We shouldn't have to wait over an hour after an online order is placed to receive food we didn't order and then discover missing items. It's especially irritating that the online system sends a false message saying the food is ready when it's not. There was also a significant price difference between what we ordered and what we received. The restaurant employee said that the difference would be refunded, but I have serious doubts that will happen based on the fact that they can't even complete an order in a timely fashion and give us the correct amount of meals.
This same thing has happened 3 of the prior times we tried getting food here, but after this final ridiculous time, we will never come back and don't recommend anyone else go here either if they value their time and actually getting what they ordered.
**Update - This restaurant gave me food poisoning, so I definitely...
Read moreSo let's start this review right where it matters most. Authenticity. Authenticity is what I felt once I entered this establishment. The restaurant was absolutely spotless. The windows the floors and every table and every chair was clean and ready for the next guest. The entire leather booth looked cozy and ran the entire span of the windows, that gave way to a complete view of the outside seating area. They even have a booth that sits nestled by the doorway that leads to the outside seating. This gave me the feeling of sitting in what has to be found memories of the entire staff of what it feels like to be back in Jamaica. Authenticity was also within the spirit of the entire staff that I encountered. The smiles the warm welcomes and their willingness to get right to making you feel at home. Authenticity was what I witnessed as I watched the cooks delightful within the freshness of these delicious meals. I had the large Curry chicken plate because I'm greedy đ. The chicken was seasoned with the right amount of everything, so I tasted every single ingredient. The plantains were in the words of Goldie locks, just rite. They were not too soft nor were they too under prepared. The mixed vegetables weren't over cooked so the whole mix of them could be tasted individually. The rice wasn't under cooked or over cooked and blended well with the curry sauce. They have outside seating and offer music that is played through a speaker on Saturdays. Stop by soon and you will enjoy this place. It is truly authentic and like being in a place that sits...
Read moreAfter stalking this place for weeks like a hungry ninja, I finally went in and ordered the oxtail combo with butter shrimp rice and plantains. Let me tell you, they delivered big time. The oxtail fell off the bone so perfectly I wanted to write it a love letter. And that shrimp⌠I swear it was like tasting Caribbean heaven â¤ď¸
Now, letâs talk about the peppers. Those little slices of hellfire disguised as mild peppers? Yeah. I thought they were cute until they set my mouth on a joyride of regret and exhilarationđĽ. I wasnât ready, but I canât say I didnât enjoy the ride. It was like they sprinkled a dash of âare you sure youâre tough enough?â on the shrimpâand apparently, I was barely tough enough.
Even though I ordered plain rice and got rice with beans, it was all good. I didnât know I needed that extra flavor boost in my life, but now I might dream about it. The plantains were perfectly sweet and golden, basically a dessert thatâs trying to pretend itâs a side dish.
Bonus points to the staff who were so nice theyâd make you think you walked into your grandmaâs kitchen. When I called my sister to declare this our new Caribbean spot, I was 99% sure I heard angels singing. Last time I had oxtail this good was in DC, but sorry, DCâthis place is my new...
