Crispy Banh Mi — Restaurant in Charlotte

Overall it was ok, went with a friend and we both got a noodle bowl (I got the special with the alternative protein + tofu + shrimp and my friend got the chicken bowl with shrimp). The tofu was fried and made well and I really liked the alternative meat (wheat flower protein/seitan), it had a great sweet flavor to it! The chicken was very dry and stiff and the shrimp was fine. I’m a big fan of boba tea and have tried several different milk teas at different locations in Charlotte and this one was by far my least favorite. I got the honey dew milk tea and my first sip was straight powder of the tea flavoring( or milk powder?) that still hadn’t dissolved and was still hot even though there was ice in the drink. The flavor was very artificial tasting and off. I was looking forward to this place due to the good reviews, so I was disappointed with the lack luster experience. If I ever have the chance to go back, I might try the banh mi sandwiches instead and try a green tea boba in case...

This place is unreal. Everything I tried (which after multiple visits was like half the menu) is so good. You can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches, but my favorite one was actually the vegetarian sandwich made with seitan! It can be prepared vegan which is how I ordered mine, they are very courteous about customizing for dietary/allergy needs.

I've also tried most of the sides, and while they're all great too, I have to specifically recommend the fried tofu. Also be sure to try a slushie or juice while you're there, they're almost all made with fresh fruit and they have some great flavors that are hard to find in America. Best sandwich of my life, Crispy Fried Fish. Words do it no justice. My mouth was alive for what I felt the first time. Orgasm with every bite. Perfect amounts of flavor, greens, bread. Can be no improvement upon the perfect. And just when I thought that the best was gone, (even tried eating the wrapping at one point) , I drank of the Taro Smoothie. OMG. Simple and so good.
