Food Lion — Local services in Charlotte

The three stars are given for their meat department -- excellent meat, at reasonable prices. As for the rest -- fair enough prices but all mitigated by their abhorrent pricing! RARELY have all those items listed in the flier as On Sale --actually been changed in the register. When you get to the register, you cannot see on the screen if it is wrung up correctly. This creates havoc when you have to wait until the cashier has completed the order to see if all those SALE items were correctly discounted. On large orders -- this can be very unsettling for the customer who is looking at a long line of people waiting to get checked out. When you do find an error they have to call someone else over to take care of you. Youre standing around -- waiting and then they dont refund the whole item -- only the difference. Its a racket here--bringing people in with "sale" items, not actually marking them down (consistently) then making it very difficult to insure you were charged the correct amount. Publix prices indeed are a bit higher --but there sales are ALWAYS coded in the computer, and ALWAYS visible on the screen and the ONE TIME it was not in the computer they noticed the error and promptly refunded me the entire amount for the item --no questions asked. Food Lion -- your competition is only increasing -- why not step up the customer...

I'm a long time Foodlion customer, this summer I was totally disappointed with the quality of some of the furit and vegetables, the greens ,lettuce, spring onions were brown and bruised, watermelon was picked to soon mostly rime just a slight sweetness on top, Cantloupe were 3.99 dry not sweet , Honey dew Mellon not sweet hard and dry, peaches were dry and mushy, Plums dry and bitter, two of the Banana's had thick black line inside from top to bottom, I bought expensive Asian pears they were dry not sweet at all , some of the cherries slightly sweet but they had finger nail prints all in them, yesterday I went in Foodlion I bought Delicious red Apples , Broccoli crown , cucumber 's were just like rubber, the produce manager did find me one crisp one and she insisted she just put them out, got home to wash them and two of the Apples were rotten inside, the broccoli had brown bloches throughout the whole crown, I called several times to let them know I will be returning these items, but the new phone system won't let you talk to anyone, i've taken the loss all summer but it...

The men's restroom at this location was ABSOLUTELY FILTHY and NASTY. Puddles of URINE on the floor. I almost fell down on this nasty floor. NO SOAP and NO TOWELS. All of the stalls were filthy and looked as if the facility had not been cleaned in a month. If this store has a manager then he/she should be retrained. One employee was hiding out in the handicapped stall using his phone. The cashier was not friendly nor helpful. He struggled to explain the MVP pricing and program. If you shop a Food Lion then be careful not to overpay at the register. The prices for sale items on the shelf are for members of MVP only. The sale labels do not clearly explain this pricing.
