We initially planned to dine in, but due to a last-minute change, we had to switch to takeout. Unfortunately, it took 45 minutes to receive our food, and during that time, the waiter barely acknowledged us. We ordered Chicken Alfredo, another pasta dish I can't recall, and two salad bars. To make matters worse, the couple behind us, who arrived after we did, received their large pizza before we even left.
When our food finally arrived, we were very disappointed. The portion sizes were small compared to what the old restaurant. The "garlic bread" was especially disappointing—it was just plain white bread with maybe a sprinkle of garlic powder. Yes, grocery store white bread. My Chicken Alfredo was okay I guess and, again, very small.
We were charged $60 for such portions and garlic bread straight out of the Great Depression. Looking at other reviews, this bread issue has been a problem for at least three years, so it's clear the restaurant has no intention of improving it.
I honestly have no idea what the higher reviews are talking about. It feels like they must be reviewing a completely different place but more likely they are looking through rose colored glasses. Little Rome has fell off.
I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and makes some changes, but considering they've been serving Wonder Bread for 3 years despite complaints, I have little faith. Since they rebuilt and moved into the heart of Chatsworth, it seems like they've gone from being a charming mom-and-pop spot to something more gentrified and...
Read moreThis was our second visit to the new location. The first visit was right after they opened and the results were much the same as below. But we loved the old Little Rome and really wanted to give them a second chance.
Unfortunately this is definitely not the "old" Little Rome...
The food does not even resemble the quality or taste of the original establishment. We ordered pizza and lasagna. The crust on the pizza was not the thin crunchy taste or consistency that made us love the old pizza. The meat sauce on the lasagna tasted sweet and the consistency of the meat just seemed off.
On the positive side, the cheese toast was good and the salad bar was OK. Not the expansive choices like the original salad bar but OK.
As for the service, it my have just been a bad day. There was only one other group eating when we got there and they already had their food. Our waitress was not very attentive and got the order wrong on several items.
The new restaurant is very esthetically pleasing and outside deck is awesome. Too bad we won't be able to enjoy either...
In the end we ended up eating very little of the meal with the exception of the toast and salad.
We really wanted this new location to work! We were loyal customers for more than 20 years and ate there 3-4 times a month. Sadly I don't think we...
Read moreLet me start by saying that the service here was terrific! But that was really the only good part of eating here. The menu items are quite a bit more expensive than one would expect for a small town "Italian Restaurant." And if you'd like to add the salad bar, it's an additional $4.99 and you're only allowed one trip. In our party, we ordered spaghetti, manicotti, stuffed shells, and chicken parm. EVERYTHING came in a lava hot broiler bowl and was far to hot to eat. The chicken tasted like a frozen tv dinner meat and the meat sauce tasted like it came directly out of a Chef Boyardee can. The pasta was nothing to write home about either. Another thing I'd expect from an Italian Restaurant is bread being brought out before your meal. We received bread with our meal, but it was just heavily buttered texas toast like you'd get at Zaxby's. If you're looking for an affordable option for this quality of food, you'd be better off finding a Fazioli's somewhere. There are a lot other Italian Restaurants I'd recommend where the food is much better, and you don't have to break the...
