Sallie's Cafe — Restaurant in Checotah

Nice, quaint little spot for breakfast and lunch. Opened 6a-2p m-sa. They have a sign that says God & friends welcomed there. They have ALot of cross decoration. I noticed a bowl of candy for the little ones I'm assuming. The restroom was hard to get to being a bigger gal. They have a table in front of that I had to slip sideways past. My husband is particular when it comes to his eggs being cooked. He told them no lace & was delighted with the outcome. I was craving a western omelet. I ordered mine without mushrooms because I can't stand them. My omelet was yummy but one mushroom had slipped in somehow. The hashbrowns were equally crispy. The gravy was hot. The biscuit was big & fluffy. The tea was not too sweet. My husband enjoyed his big mug of coffee. Didn't have to ask for refills,they asked us. The waitresses were very nice. I'd say it's a good place to pop into once or twice if you haven't. Again it was a first time visiting for us. We might be back. Been through town several times and finally got a chance to stop and have lunch. I was a little early for lunch (10:30) but I really didn't want breakfast. The waitress politely told me that lunch didn't start till 11 but she'd check if she could get me a chicken fried steak early. I had to wait just a few minutes and she came back and got my order started. I got the chicken fried steak, cucumber salad, fries, and cabbage for just 8.99. It's was so good and hit the spot. The chicken fried steak was not just a breaded hamburger; it was a tenderized cubed steak, and hand breaded, covered in gravy. The sides were delicious too. The setting is very quaint and there's not too many tables so you might have to wait a little to get a table. I'll definitely be back to try...

Quick turnaround from Texas and decided to stop for lunch with parents. Excellent chicken fried steak and excellent customer service-our waitress said it was her dad's place. She was super friendly quick service it was packed at lunch and portions are giant. If you have a big appetite you will appreciate the larger portions. Ordered the side salad 🥗 and thoroughly enjoyed the lunch.
