I wanted to hold off on rating to see if an issue would have been addressed or at the ber least acknowledged. That was 5 days ago after emailing them about my experience from start to finish. Since I never received a response here's what took place.
Let me start by saying, your food is positively delicious. May be the best I've eaten in quite a long time. My party and I have been following you on Instagram for the last month and salivating over your dishes!
I reserved our table on Sept. 14 and received confirmation Sept 16 with full instructions on arrival (15 min before) time and gratuity for 10/9 at 12:30 pm. Yesterday, four of the five arrived a little after Noon and waited outside on the patio/picnic area for a few more minutes waiting for arrival of our final party member. I went inside to find out scenarios for party members not being able to make it and was told we'd be seated right away and was then told we'd have to order at the front and pay before being seated. If our party arrived late, they would not get their food the same time as we would. We decided to wait for our party. This was at 12:16 pm. At 12:26 our final party arrived, and we entered and was told it would be at least a 30-minute wait due to short staffing. The receptionist/hostess seemed to be overwhelmed with the traffic of incoming for pickups and reservations and was not very personable. She was not rude, but you could tell she was stressed. She took my name (Tina) and phone number and said that she'd call me when a table became available. My party and I left and came back. Parked across the street and I called to check the status of our seating. I was then told that it would be another 20 minutes, this was a 1:09 pm. I questioned the wait being told previously it would be at least 30 minutes. The receptionist then disclosed it is policy when having a party of 5 or more to make reservations by email. I told her that I had and received my confirmation email advising of the arrival time and gratuity. She said she did not see a reservation for Tina. I have attached a forwarded copy of my email Sept 19. At this point we were left with the decision of leaving or staying; 3 of the 5 of us traveled from Southwest Philly and Darby, the other 2 were local in the Germantown area so we decided to stay and wait to be seated.
After being told they were ready to seat we placed our orders. We finally sat at our table 1:50 pm. By now the dining room was empty of diners. There were no place settings, cutlery, or glasses on the table. Just the number and reserved tents. There was one young lady seeming to do it all; bus tables, mop floors and serve. I think her name was Kiki. She was a sweetheart and did not gripe or complain about anything. Kiki brought out napkins, utensils and condiments in between doing everything else. We brought with us beverages as permitted BYOB and was told glasses are still being washed. Some of our orders began arriving and we did not get all of our orders until 2:09 pm. From there it was smooth sailing. We ordered Catfish and Grits (smack ya' Momma delicious), biscuits, Catfish plate, fried shrimp, potatoes, shrimp and grits, and the Chaser plate. ALL OF WHICH WERE SUPERB!!! We just could not fully enjoy the experience because of all the previous chaos. When we were coming back, you and your sister were actually out in the patio area doing what I guess was a Live of people from Harrisburg, I tried to stay out of the frame. I wanted to say something then but thought it would be best to allow you to conduct business on a very hectic day and let the rest of our visit play itself out.
We tried to figure out what could have been the disconnect and hope this is not the norm. It's a shame because the food was very good and lived up to the buzz. We're just not sure about returning...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy good friend and I drove 45 minutes to try out Food Chasers Kitchen for brunch today. We heard about them through Instagram and had hoped this would be a great first experience with a black woman owned business. When we arrived, the person behind the counter asked if we wanted to dine in or take out. We said dine in and then she quickly responded that we couldnāt dine-in because they had two or three large groups of 4-6 people and they didnāt have the space. So my confused face probably said āwhy ask me then?ā but worst than that, it totally ruined our plans to have the full experience at this establishment. She then says that next time I should make a reservation and I told her that I certainly would have if the site had that option, and she told me I could have called and asked them to reserve our seats. While I assume that the woman was trying to give me advice to smooth over the fact that I was clearly disappointed and somehow let me know how I could do better for myself next time, I strongly suggest to the owners of this establishment that if you have limited dining space, to please require or strongly recommend reservations on your website and partner with a service to allow customers to make them online. This would at least make it known that you take reservations and mentally prepare those who donāt have them. By the way, at least four people left the restaurant while we were waiting for our food and we asked when our food was ready if space to dine in became available and the woman still said no. So not sure what the situation was today, maybe short-staffed or something else, but nonetheless, it was disappointing. Now on to the food. Iāll post the pictures and let it be known that Food Chasers unfortunately was not worth the āchaseā. We ordered the Go Big or Go Home platter and the Double the Pleasure platter. The Go Big platter was not very big at all, to say the least, I asked for cheddar cheese in the eggs but didnāt see or taste any cheese at all. I hate to say it, but they actually tasted and looked like powdered eggs. Both the eggs and potatoes were not seasoned and the potatoes were very mushy. The French toast may have been good if the little pieces that were served were hot. The same comment for the larger portion of French toast on the Double the Pleasure platter. The chicken and shrimp and sauce were just basic and nothing to rave about. We really wanted to love this restaurant and make this a go-to spot but unfortunately, we most likely...

I don't live in that area anymore, so I had to purchase enough to have for the next day š
I got "The Breezy" which is French toast, strawberries topped with this banging cream cheese sauce. OMGeee sooo good! The "Give Me All That" is their cheesy grits with salmon, shrimp and lump crab 𤤠Yo let me tell you how I tried to get different angles while I was eating to show how good the portion size of the trio of jumbo seafood that was in this dish. I didn't eat it all but I still had the ITIS afterwards š The Salmon Cheesesteak was saved for the next day but of course I had to try it! It's on a super soft roll and I got it with cooper sharp cheese... their garlic cheese and seafood mayo made it even better. I only had a bite and could taste ALL the flavors. YUM YUMMY, y'all gotta get itā¼ļø I got my mom the 5 Jumbo party wings and fries with lemon pepper bbq sauce on the side.....she said they were perfectly fried and it all was seasoned just right ā And the honey butter biscuits are good too!
I am a True Foodie at Heart and can't wait to try more items on their menu. These Twin Ladies have the same great energy and personality in person as they do online. Make sure to support their restaurant.
EDIT: I haven't dined inside in awhile but since it was my birthday why not. Everything was delicious as usual! Thanks twins for coming out and singing Happy...
