We recently had family come to visit us and decided to give the new local spot a try. I have to start by saying the FOOD WAS GREAT . However, the service was horrible. I think I can identify the problem pretty accurately. The staffs cigarette breaks are 1st priority, and the customer is 2nd in line . When we arrived, it was around 8-8:30, and there were two people at the bar and no one else dining . We waited for the rest of the party to arrive with no attempts at a drink order. We decided on patio seating. The waiter was very kind in taking time to wipe our table and get our drink order. Since we had patio seating, we had a great view of " the burning bush" where the employees smoke out back . While our drinks were being made by the server ,the kitchen manager and members of the cook crew are at the bush. Out comes the drinks ,in goes the orders . The manager comes in w the cooks , but goes back out with the wait staff 5 minutes later to the bush. Enter a table of four. After sitting in a few minutes, a female takes drink orders for this table, and the manager and other waiter come back in to check on us. After at least 30 minutes and 2 more trips to the burning bush, the table who came in After us receives their food . Our waiter on the way BACK to the bush says we are waiting on hot fries . TEN minutes later, our food comes out . But guess what we are missing? An order of fries. After another 10 minutes, the rest of our order comes out . An hour after ordering . They were prompt with the bill as it was now 20 till ten . And they close at 10. Took forever to get our change and to go boxes, and after receiving it, the manager locks the patio door because it is after closing. Door to door we were an hour and a half for 2 burgers and 16 wings and fries. An hour to receive food, 20 minutes to eat it, or they lock the door . The waiter was friendly and attentive between cigarettes . The only time the manager was not at the bush was when he brought us the order missing food. Because the waiter was on a smoke break . The food is good . But with service like this, it won't matter. The waitress inside was great , and to be fair, it was mostly the servers who stayed outside . Your manager cares more about his break than his customers. That is how he is training his staff, and it is evident in the service. I'm all for a break. No way should it have taken that long...
Read moreI recently dined at Dizzy restaurant and unfortunately, I must say that my experience was rather disappointing. The menu listed quesadillas that were supposed to come with guacamole and pico de gallo, but when my order arrived, both were noticeably missing. It was quite disappointing to not have those essential toppings that were clearly promised and uploaded on Google Maps picture shared by owner. It turned out to be completely dry, I even asked to see if they had Sour Cream and it was a no.
To add to the frustration, the wrong drinks were brought to our table. We had specifically ordered the AMC Old Fashion which was their local take (Mocha Almond and bitters), instead I received a simple old fashion without bitters . The mix-up made us question the attention to detail and accuracy in the restaurant's service.
Furthermore, we decided to try the flatbread, which sounded enticing on the menu. However, to our surprise, it came with an honey mustard sauce that was not mentioned anywhere in the menu. While some may enjoy surprises, it felt misleading and left us unsure of what we were actually ordering.
Despite these shortcomings, I must commend the staff for their excellent service. They were attentive, friendly, and respectful throughout our meal but never to rectify the issue.
Overall, I was disappointed with my visit to Dizzy. The lack of guacamole and pico de gallo in the quesadillas, the mix-up with the drinks, and the unexpected sauce on the flatbread left a lot to be desired. The overall experience was not up to par with my expectations of any Marriott restaurant. I also attempted to order two burgers for my guests at around 9:20 PM and I was told the kitchen was closed because a party of 13 people had arrived. This was 40 mins before it was supposed to close leaving my guests hungry Uber doesn’t deliver in this town. This is day 1 of my 3 night stay, hope it gets better, but it’s not...
Read moreI was flying to a conference in Columbia when we had to divert to Cheraw Airport due to sever weather. My fellow travelers and I were not familiar with the Cheraw, SC area. We were hungry, a little tired and did not know where to go for food. We were lucky that another airplane also landed due to the weather and the crew had some familiarity of the area.
They recommended Dizzy's Bar and Grill. We joined them for a late lunch / early dinner at Dizzy's.
I was immediately impressed with how the staff went out of their way to take care of us. They extended true "southern hospitality" to us. The atmosphere was really nice and the jazz theme, featuring Dizzy Gillespie, was both unique and interesting with many historical photos.
We all shared food and were able to sample a large portion of the menu. The food was outstanding! I really enjoyed the fried pickles, grilled chicken and bacon quesadilla, crab cakes, pork belly macaroni, and margherita flatbread to name a few.
The staff, atmosphere and food turned around an otherwise very stressful day and became a very pleasant memory with the added benefit of making some new friends!
As an aside, Dizzy's is located in the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Cheraw. The hotel was extremely clean and well maintained with an outdoor pool that I would have loved to use if I were a guest staying at the hotel.
I highly recommend Dizzy's. I will surely make a point to visit again when I am...
