JJ's is my local restaurant where I know I can get good "home cooked" meals at lunch time. Meat and 3 sides lunch ready by 10 or 10:30 each morning. They are open Monday thru Saturday from about 5:30 am until 8 pm and they will cook you a hamburger if that's what you want at breakfast or they will cook you any breakfast food anytime of the day. They might run out of biscuits if it is later in the day so if you are craving a biscuit then come at breakfast time, otherwise you will get toast (or maybe a roll, cornbread or Mexican cornbread - although I have never asked for anything but toast when they have run out of biscuits). They are HAPPY to cook you anything off of their printed menu anytime of the day. Sometimes the plate lunch items will still be written on the "board" until later in the afternoon, but if it is a popular item it may be sold out during the first hour of lunch, so if you have your heart set on getting fried corn and you don't get there early enough do what I do and call in your order "to go" so you will get exactly what you want. By the way, I have personally only seen fried corn on the board on Thursdays. You always have a choice of at least 3 meats and I have never counted but I would guess you have a choice of up to 7 or 8 side items. It's always good eating at JJs. Oh yeah, and on Friday and Saturday evenings they have a salad bar. Also, they stay open until 9 pm on Friday...
Read moreHeard good things about JJ's from many locals, so I took my family for lunch. We got in, and ordered. Just for a milkshake and grilled cheese, it took 45 minutes to get to us, with only 2 other people eating in. My girlfriend had her steak burned, after politely asking for a new one, we were told their steaks are frozen and need to thaw (major red flag, itll never cook right like that). After trying to eat the cheapest canned chili cheese on fries I have ever had, we decided to just pay, forget the steak, and leave. They then tried to charge us 14 more dollars for the extra steak that THEY MESSED UP TO BEGIN WITH without telling me. Then called a manager off shift to come and talk to us, making a scene out of it all when, we were polite the entire time and, never once caused an issue or argued. Do not go here, it is horrible. As a previous cook myself, I can say the food is beyond cheap. The steaks are flat as a pancake, and low quality, it's all cheap food you can cook at home,...
Read moreCustomer service was not that friendly, I ordered a Philly cheese steak that had cheddar cheese on it.. but it was ok. I definitely had better. My friend food was not so good. Her bread was hard and the Mac and cheese was cold no flavor and had a hair in it and all that after a 1:15 minute wait. Me personally would not recommend.
The dark head girl with us (can't remember her name but not Kristi) is the 1 who had the hair in her Mac n cheese. She just didn't want to wait even longer we was already late for work, and it was her rolls that was hard.. and if you don't have cheddar cheese there then I have 2 questions, 1 what was the yellow cheese on my Philly cheese steak???? And what do you put on cheese burgers?? I have never heard a restaurant say they don't even have...
