We were charged more than 20% tip which was different from what the waiter said. First of all, there is no notice about an automatic 20% tip for parties of 4 or more on the menu, also the waiter had not mentioned about it until we asked for the check and questioned about the tip included on the bill.

He said a 20% tip was automatically applied to the bill for a party of 4 people; however, we realized that the charged tip and the tip guide of 20% didn’t match together. We asked the waiter how much 20% tip is, and he said and pointed at the 20% tip guide at the bottom of the check. When we talked about the difference of the tip amount on the check, then he said the calculation of tip was wrong, but he refused to correct/remove the tip and let us leave tip ourselves.

Tips are to be calculated based on the total cost before tax, and should be based on your personal preference and the level or quality of service you received. We did some calculations and we found out that the extra in tip (beside 20%) on the check is tipping tax. However, the sale tax doesn’t go to the business, it goes to the state.

If you go look at business, the automatic tip is often added to the bill for parties of 6 or more in the restaurant industry, and the tip percentage will be based on pre-tax.

This isn’t about being cheap or generous. This is about the business being HONEST and not deceiving.

Moreover, the waiter isn’t friendly, he didn’t even say hi or goodbye when we came in or left the restaurant. Although their food is good and it’s close to my workplace, it’s my first time and last time to go to this restaurant, also I definitely don’t recommend it to all my coworkers and my acquaintances.

I don't know if they have done the same calculation on the bills like this before or if they did it to us on purpose. What if we didn’t realize the tip included on the bill, it would be...

My husband and I came here for a quick lunch. Customer service was horrendous. When we sat down, we waited 15 minutes before someone came and asked us what we wanted to eat. The food took another 15 minutes to come out (mind you they weren’t packed at all). The food was bland, literally no taste at all. There was a Vietnamese couple that came into the restaurant after us, yet they were seated and waited on immediately. The waiter even refilled their water when they were eating (they never glanced at my husband or I to see if we needed a refill). When it was time to pay, they gave the Vietnamese couple their bill and disappeared into the back. I told my husband to just walk to the register and stand there until someone came out. When my husband told him that no one came to our table, the man said “sorry” and proceeded to continue what he was doing. If I could give ZERO stars, I would. The food isn’t even the same....

Intimidating! I have been a regular customer always praising their food. I was told by a female waitress that the new dish had the same vegetables as the previous dish I just ordered since I said that I only wanted the vegetables. I came in the next day and she was my waitress again. The new dish had just onions and scallions for vegetables. I ordered my previous dish and sent the onions and scallions back without eating it. The men working there said that next time order right or I will be charged for the food I send back. I have never complained about food there before, but I am too intimidated to come back because they are blaming me for their mistake. Also, when is it OK for a resturaunt to charge a customer for food the customer cannot eat because it is not made like the resturaunt said they...

Had the Chicken stay skewer, Hanoi style vermicelli with grilled pork, and Tofu noodle with shrimp paste. Really enjoyed the skewer and vermicelli, tasted pretty fresh, light. The skewer came with a peanut type sauce and some vinegary cucumber. Was nice and light. The fish sauce for the vermicelli has some chili pepper to it, and the side salad had some cilantro and basil. Complimentary water had lime in it. Thought the tofu noodles were noodles made of tofu, but it was just noodles with a side of fried tofu triangles. The shrimp paste was too strong for me. Heard it's an acquired taste. Clean single room bathrooms, one for male and a separate room for females. Server was quite attentive. Only gripe is the cold comes in quickly when the door is opened.

Looks like change in management from the old Hanoi Cuisine. Menu has simplified and quality seems to have deteriorated a bit. Portions are still very robust relative to price. Pho Deluxe- the portions of meat were not very proportional. One or 2 piece of tendon and a ton of flank. Broth flavor left a lot to be desired. Ca Chua Ngot ( crispy sweet sour fish) - great portion. Not crispy at all. Flavor was decent Deluxe Rice platter- big portion. Solid taste and flavor. No complaints 4 Jawns out of 5
