Our favorite AYCE sushi place is still not open for dine in so we are trying new places in the meantime. Due to the great reviews recently my wife and I decided this seemed like a great alternative given the reviews and some photos.
We went on a Sunday during dinner time and were seated promptly. The place itself seemed fine enough on the inside and was busy enough to where it felt welcoming. We placed our first order of about 100 sashimi and although it took about 30 mins it all arrived and was pretty good. Some of the pieces were a. It smaller than I am used to so I figured I would just adjust going forward through the meal. On the next order we ordered another 100 sashimi, about 10 nigiri and 6 rolls or so. Waited about 30 minutes again and this time only half of the order arrived at most. I asked the server what happened and she said they didn’t want to give it all to me in case I didn’t finish. This does happen sometimes when we try a new place because I guess we eat way more than the usual sushi goers, but I do hate when they don’t say something to me before they decide what to bring me. I finished what they gave us and they brought the rest. We placed a final sushi order after that and once done it was about 9:15. We were the only table left at this time and decided to call it a night.
Overall the sashimi was okay. The fish seemed fresh but did lack a bit of flavor that we are used to. Also the pieces of some of the sashimi are quite small. Such as the yellowtail (weekend only), octopus, spicy sashimis. I can’t quite comment on the nigiris because we didnt really receive many of the ones we ordered. As for the rolls we weren’t really a fan. They just lacked any sort of distinguishing flavor and all seemed the same. Even the philly roll which is my absolute favorite. The rolls were packed with rice and had very little filling (yes I know it is AYCE) but it was a bit too much as you can see in some of the pics. It’s almost as if they didn’t even try on some of them.
Overall it was a decent date night but would not return. Service was fine (other than not getting our full orders) but the sushi was just not to our liking. Guess it’s on to a different location next time.
Edit - couldn’t figure out how to post pics from my phone for some reason. I’ve done it before. Also updated to a 3 star from a 2 as I felt it was a decent spot and for most it would suffice. A 2-start IMO is reserved for a terrible experience which...
Read moreI apologise to both the staff and chefs for the amount of food I eat in your restaurant. I would blame you for having all you can eat as an option, but I realize that it is my lack of self control that has led me to where I am today.
All you can eat, some see that as an invitation to indulge just enough food to where you are comfortably full after you meal.
All you can eat, other's see it as a promise that no matter how hungry you are when you enter you will leave satisfied.
All you can eat, I see this as a challenge. A test. A true and honest gauntlet of unlimited tempera, dumplings, sashimi, and sushi both maki and nigiri.
This is where I am today. In a bottomless hole that I have created for myself. There are no true words to describe the feeling you get when you see how much sushi you really ordered. How many rolls will be in your mouth. How much wasabi you will use. How your finger cramps somehow outweigh you stomach cramps. The noise you make once you've finished those last 21 pieces of sushi you ordered even though you were already full before you ordered them. I'd like to say I won, because I ate far more than 25 dollars worth of sushi. However, the feeling I have like there is a 20 pound weight in my midsection is crippling. In the words of Gob Bluth, "I've made a huge mistake."
I would like to mention that the quality of this sushi is top notch. It is the kind of sushi that you'd expect at an above average not all you can eat sushi bar. This surprised me the first time I came here, because before this I was used to only eating at Chinese buffets that had sushi for some reason, and traditional sushi bars. The buffets were really not good, but the other places were awesome. This is the kind of sushi I would expect from the other places.
In conclusion, every time I breath I feel the rock bed I sleep in poking into my back fat, and I think I need a doctor. If anyone knows a good hospital I can rest in let me know. I'm dying to get the rest of this sushi out of my...
Read moreWe were finally seated after multiple parties that arrived after us, even with some of the others pointing out that we were there before them. Once seated, the gentleman (#1) took our drink orders and gave us our menu sheets to complete. He never returned to the table. Another server (#2) came by about 15 minutes later to ask if we needed anything, and I mentioned that we had ordered drinks that never came, so she took our drink orders again and took our sheets to the kitchen and sushi bar to be prepared. A different server (#3) came by, delivered my daughter's soda and gave me a glass of water (I ordered a hot tea), and rushed off with her tray full of drinks...which included two cups of hot tea. #2 came back about 5 minutes later to deliver our soup, and when I brought up my tea, she said they were brewing it. Well, they must have been brewing in Japan because it took over an hour ro finally get it, after letting yet another server (#6) know when she came over to ask if everything was OK, to which I said "no." Each food delivery to the table in the interim, came from different servers (#4 & #5) who literally dropped off our food, or scooped our empty plates, and ran without checking to see if we needed anything. Once we had all of our food, there was at least a half-hour drought of NO ONE coming by to check on us, nor did they give us additional sheets to order more food if we wanted. It was by far the most disappointing experience I had ever had there, and even more so because we were there to celebrate my daughter's upcoming birthday. #6 presented our check and stated that she gave us a 15% discount because of our experience, which I appreciated, but it didn't take away from the disappointment of the occasion. I sincerely hope they do better in the future because we have always enjoyed...
