I made a reservation for 25-30 people. When we arrived we were promptly brought to the back of the restaurant which was great however I quickly noticed there were not enough seats. Luckily we had some people who had to cancel so we squeezed everyone in however if they didn’t we would’ve been in a difficult situation as all the other tables were being used. So I would air on the side of caution when dining in large groups.
The staff was overall not as friendly as I had hoped. They seemed irritated with us asking for a sushi menu, requesting a drink other than water, etc. The hibachi chefs did not talk to us. The chef who worked on one of the tables didn’t talk at all, didn’t throw any food to anyone, make any small talk, etc. The second chef said happy birthday but didn’t talk and threw a few pieces of shrimp at the end. We tried to initiate small talk and keep positive energy but it wasn’t reciprocated.
Lastly, when the check arrived I asked if we could do separate checks for each couple. The waitress got extremely irritated and said “you didn’t say that when you came. You made a reservation for so many people.” I told her “I’m sorry, I didn’t realize I needed to tell her ahead of time. how can we resolve this?” She got mad and left. A different staff member came over and said he can put as many cards onto the check as we need. So we calculated our totals ourselves and paid. Also, before getting the check it felt like we were being rushed out of the restaurant when we were still trying to eat and talk.
Overall it was a very disappointing experience. The food was good however I would’ve hoped after spending nearly $700 we would’ve been treated with more...
Read moreWe went during a busy time, but every other table was waited on multiple times before we even got our appetizers. Instead of checking in on us, the waiter just kept replacing our half finished drinks - without asking. The only thing we could get him to say was "so sorry, just a little longer" while he had full blown conversations with the table across from us. It took us almost 3 HOURS to get our SUSHI which we chose because of it's simplicity. It took me standing up and looking around the restaurant for him to actually start our order (by then just about everyone else had been served and vacated). I love sushi, have had it from various places including this chain, and this was the most sub-par I've had in a while: the rice was falling apart under the fish, the rolls were simply placed on the plate without garnish or pride, and half of our order STILL wasn't finished by the time we got that! After all of that waiting and being ignored, when we tried to pay the waiter handed the card over the wall to the cashier...which I thought was to ensure we weren't kept waiting any longer...and speedily walked away. It took us GETTING UP and HEADING FOR THE EXIT for them to run us back the check. And the man had the nerve to give us a face when we didn't tip! It took 3 hours to get 16 prices of shoddily prepared sushi and a tempura appetizer that we ate in 5 minutes because we were falling asleep by the time it came, and they thought that we were going to TIP? It pains me to write such a bad review but I hope this is the kick in the butt that makes them...
Read moreI will start off by saying that this place does serve good, fresh sushi. That’s where they hold their 3 stars from me. 2 points deducted due to the menu and service. On the sushi/ sashimi a la cart section of the menu, it specifies that each order of sushi comes with 2 pieces, and sashimi comes with 3 pieces. They specify that for the seasonal fishes, sushi or sashimi is 2 pieces, not 3 like how it is for the regular fish. However, they do NOT specify that the scallop(hotate) is ONE scallop, sliced up into pieces! Scallop is my favorite type of sashimi to order, so you can imagine that I was extremely not only displeased, but SURPRISED that it was only 1 piece since they specified the amount of pieces for the seasonal fish. That is not okay, and not right to not specify it. Every single time I have ever ordered scallop anywhere, 1 order of sashimi that includes 2-3 pieces, actually includes 2-3 SCALLOPS, not 1 scallop sliced into multiple pieces. It was $6 for ONE scallop. If you go to Sushi Kingdom 9 mins down the road, it is $1.50 for one whole scallop(not a slither, good quality), just saying. The service was extremely slow, he checked in on us long after we stopped eating, and charged us for 2 sodas that he never even served us(and that we couldn’t even ask for since he never checked on us). The kicker? He asked if we wanted the 2 sodas to go 😂! Nah man, if I’m going to spend $5 on 2 sodas, it’s going to be 2 2 liters of soda, not cups...
