Mi Rincon Latino Taqueria y Pupuseria — Restaurant in Chesapeake

Got food here today for dinner because of the good reviews and the hype, but after tasting all the food that was ordered I am honestly, disappointed. The food, especially, the MEAT were so DRY. The Birria TACOS, DRY. Carne asada, DRY. Pupusa, DRY. California burrito meat and fries, DRY. Soft tacos meat and birria tacos itself, DRY. What's food and beverage charging 12%? We got out food for pickup and still have to TIP and that's $11.79???? With the super DRY food and you have the audacity to get a tip without informing the customer?

Never coming back here for food or service. I was excited to eat the food with the family and everybody only had little tiny taste bites as it barely had any flavor and food were, well...DRY. Food was so dry the restaurant should be paying their customers with a free drink or something.

The red sauce was so pale it looked like a watered down taxation sauce. I don't get all these 5 star reviews.

Oh well.

Update: the next day I soaked the birria tacos on the soup side and heated it up and it was pretty good, but still meat was like choking me because of the texture of how...

Mi Rincon made me the most delicious and satisfying Mexican food I’ve had since I moved here, so good that for a moment I had forgotten that I’m not in California anymore.

I recently moved from very southern California, so far south that I could see the hills in Mexico at all times. So naturally, I grew up eating and loving SoCal style Mexican food. When I relocated to the East Coast, I had a food related culture shock. That’s not to say the Tex-Mex style is terrible, but absolutely nothing I tried could satisfying my cravings. Then I saw Mi Rincon on my DoorDash app.

I opted for the birria taco trio and a cheese papusa. In all honesty, I felt like I had won the lottery when I saw papusas on the menu, they’re my favorite Salvadoran food. The papusa was MASSIVE and perfectly made, it even had an epic cheese pull. The accompanying curtido was so good I’ll be craving it for weeks. The birria tacos were heavenly, so tender and juicy, and the consommé was so full of flavor, I couldn’t help but use every last drop.

I ordered a chicken pupusa that was slightly charred on the outside and it was not very warm either which is essential to get that cheese pull. When I pulled it apart there was a LONG STRAND OF BLONDE HAIR that was inside with no cheese pull. I was immediately sickened. I was so hungry and didn’t have time to take the food back to get a refund so I was going to take the L and move on. That was until I opened up the pupusa and found ANOTHER STRAND OF HAIR! This time it was black. I was shocked and disgusted. I understand things happen when humans are preparing food that’s why hairnets need to be mandatory as part of safe food handling. Using a lint roller to catch any shed strands of hair on clothing should be a regular practice for anyone preparing or serving food. I will not...
