King Wok Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Chesapeake

King Wok was on my way home from an appointment and we've been looking for a place for great Chinese food. Everything we ordered was excellent! The Lemon Chicken reminds me of the recipe that I've been missing from P.F. Chang's. The to-go order came with a generous amount of wonderful lemon sauce on the side, with a slight tartness, real lemon flavor, and slices of lemon. I've tried the Happy Family dish at many restaurants and this one was chock full of protein - large shrimp, chicken, beef, pork and vegetables. The portion size was plenty for several meals too. I assume that the "crab" is actually imitation crab, but that seems to be the case at many Chinese restaurants. I made the mistake of ordering Chow Mein instead of Lo Mein. I can never remember which one has the noodles with it. Hint. It's LO MEIN. The flavor of the Chow Mein was good, even if we missed the noodles. The Rib Tips and BBQ sauce were so tasty also. Next time we might try the boneless ones, just so we don't have to work around the bones. Overall it's defintely a place that we'll stop again. I do not say it lightly that this is by far the best chinese takeout restaurant in Portsmouth. They are extremely polite as well. I've got to say first, I am not someone who typically likes egg rolls but they were surprisingly good, texture and flavor were both good, I'll have to try with sauce next time! The orange chicken was delicious with a good blend of flavors that give it a dynamic taste, the chicken was not spongy or overcooked. Broccoli is something that alot of places can't make to save there lives, but this place it was perfectly cooked, the white rice was not hard or over cooked. None of the food tastes or smells like chemicals like others in portsmouth, both rated 3.2 stars on google.

This place I will have to give an 8/10 While not the best chinese place ive had, that was in Washington, d.c. it is more than worth the price. For a quick at home chinese takeout I'd definitely recommend.

UNFORTUNATELY I’ve had to return my order at least 3 times over the past year but today I did not give in to this 100 degree weather and poor customer service. I’d ordered extra chicken to the fried rice. Repeated the order x3 to the young man. He finally parroted back correctly. Went to pickup, the young man assured me x2 that the order was correct. Yes, you guessed it. Got home, called back and was told “oh I forgot”. All I can do is give you $5 off on your next order or you can bring it back and we’ll make you a new order Reminded the female owner of the other times they’d added shrimp (I’m allergic) and I had to drive back and to return. What a gluten for punishment and how forgiving I’d been but no more. I’m done with this restaurant which I’ve patronized since they took over years ago. My money will be best spent elsewhere.
