Simon's Marketplace is an absolute treasure - fabulous food - creative menu, fresh delicious ingredients, very generous portions and exceptional value - and all that's just for starters! Toss in a vibrant, yet relaxed atmosphere and an incredibly warm and friendly staff offering outstanding service in a charming, authentic village-store setting for an A+ vacation experience. We enjoyed browsing a fun array of cool gift items, while awaiting our delectable breakfast featuring phenomenal omelets with generous sides of bacon and warm crusty bread to die for. We're a couple of Midwesterner's who just spent a week touring CT, NH, VT and NY. We covered hundreds of miles, stopped at many cool spots and Simon's Marketplace topped our delight-and-surprise meter. The customer service went above and beyond when we called one week after stopping for breakfast to inquire if they'd happened to find our notebook computer. Not only had they found and held on to the computer (home to many irreplaceable photos), they also insisted on taking it to the post office for us, saving us the hassle and expense of arranging for a UPS shipment. Huge thanks to everyone (especially Anais, who was so kind when we called) and a sincere endorsement from two very satisfied customers - Simon's Marketplace is a must-stop if you ever find yourself in charming Chester, CT. Well worth a detour if you’re in the area....
Read moreI think quality of service depends on the time of day. I suggest getting there early, no later than 11. To be clear: they're nice but forgetful. I think they might have lost their main chef.. maybe they have different ones different days? The quiche was dry and rather flavorless and how do you screw up homefries? Apparantly it depends on who's cooking and whether there is a supervising adult, because as nice as these girls can be they dont seem to be able to always complete orders. I hope things get better but I'm not feeling this place anymore.. Sigh.... maybe they'll see this but I think not. I'm not mad I'm disappointed... had a great experience first time. I guess it's a typical old town touristy place that's hard pressed to keep good staff... you're lucky if your food is made right. Why am I being such a nudge? Imagine bringing your picky friends here and everything's dry, staff forgets side dishes and well, the food is terrible for some unexplainable reason... oh and you drove an hour to go there. (Happened to us--embarrassing).
THAT is why I'm bothering. You MIGHT have a great experience with great food, but it depends on the day apparently. So, it's a...
Read moreI was always a big fan of Simon’s Marketplace. The company I work for has ordered lunch from them countless times and I’ve taken multiple family members here. There have been a few mishaps such has spoiled milk being put in my espresso drinks and orders made incorrectly, but nothing beats how my coworker and I were treated after making a special trip here. I talked highly of the place and we saw they closed at six. We walked in at five fifteen just for some coffees. The girls working ignored us. We waited until after five thirty and the girls still never served us. They were too busy closing even though there was more than a half hour left until the marketplace closed. We weren’t ordering food, just coffees and we made eye contact with each girl working multiple times. I even said all I wanted was coffees and still they didn’t help us. We walked out and went to “Tonic” across the street and when we walked out the girl came over, slammed the door and stared right at us. It was incredibly rude and made us both feel very uncomfortable. I get wanting to leave after a long day but it was disappointing and very...
