UPDATE 7-22-2025: Almost a year later, I decided to try BJ's "Beef for Stew" meat thinking that they had to improve their awful beef quality. I bought "fresh" beef for stew, today (just set out by meat dept). Well, it appears that this "so-called" meat is still horrible. They have NOT changed their business practice as the beef I just picked up at the store "LOOKS" good and fresh. However, when I opened the package less than an hours' time, it looked awful underneath the "fresh" meat they put on top layer. It is discolored, it is slimy and unfit for consumption. This BJ's store is just awful and I will NEVER buy any beef from here again. Deceiving practices and spoiled, expensive beef is a common occurrence at BJ's Wholesale Club. Update: 9-14-2024- After communication with customer service, I was refunded for the spoiled ground beef. Much appreciated, however, it doesn't change my rating for BJ's. Four separate times in a 3-month period, I have had spoiled meat and spoiled fish. I will not be purchasing any meat, fish, dairy, produce or even frozen food. It is not fresh and is usually spoiled even though it looks fresh on the shelves. I will consider purchasing food in packages or boxes that will not go bad in a couple of days. This used to be my favorite place to get fresh food. Sad to see that it's changed so drastically. Update: 9-1-24- Went to BJ's to get ground beef for a BBQ and once again, I got home after buying over $17 worth of beef to find that it is NOT quality. The package shows that the meat appears fresh when selecting it from the store shelf, but when I got it home within 20 mins and prepared to portion it out, it shows how awful the quality is. With the continued "poor" quality or spoilage of beef (whether ground or chunked) or with spoiled fish, I can't trust this store or its meat quality. Three strikes with BAD beef and you're out. I will be cancelling my membership. Update: Today (8-7-24,) I went into the Chesterfield, MI Store to purchase some beef chunks for stew. I picked up a package of beef like I did 3 weeks ago. When I got home, I put it in the fridge and then went to use it 3 hours later. The top of the beef was grey/ brown. When I removed the top layer of beef, the rest of it was black, brown/grey and slimy. This is the 4th time in less than 8 weeks I have had spoiled meat and fish from this store. It is ridiculous that their meats are in this condition. Nothing but rotten food sold here. Seems they try to cover the spoiled meat by laying fresher meat on the top layer. This is how it looks to me and I am sure other customers are noticing it too. No coincidence, here. My new rating is 0 but have to put a 1-star. A 1-star is too good for this place. UPDATE: While I gave BJ's a 4-star rating in the past, I feel it necessary to change my rating to a 2... due to my last 2 visits. Over the last 1.5 months, I have had to return meat and fish because they are spoiled. The expiration date of the cod was within the date I purchased it. The next day after buying this fish, it was so spoiled that it stunk up my refrigerator, my home and when I returned it to the store, it stunk up the return area. I was refunded immediately... and quickly. Then 2 weeks ago, I purchased some beef for stew. It had two different types of beef (pink and dark burgundy in color) in this package and while it looked edible on the top layer, the layers below were spoiled and all different colors...black, brown and grey. The smell of rotten meat was present. They seemed to have added this unknown cut of pink meat to the top layer (only) to make the package look fresh. I reviewed this item at BJ's website and was contacted by management and they refunded me for their spoiled...
Read moreLook at the trending reviews on the Neighborhood. There are literally hundreds of complaints about check out issues. Specifically the attitudes of employees. Everyone should continue to trend the post because I believe it is at over 400 (mostly comaints) already. This shows that management and corporate are ignoring the customer base and their complaints. Specifically when it comes to services and how staff handles personal one on one interactions. This is not only a poor reflection of mismanagement this trust customers put into their membership is broken. Corporate only looks at numbers based on renewal and new customer memberships. If it looks OK they they do not care or address customer complaints. If a trend like the one now goes viral then and only then will corporate address the issue and deny responsibility. Fact is management is responsible. The GM and other management at corporate are to blame. It starts at the top with those who have the experience and education to retrain employees who lose sight of their company's mission. That should always be 100% customer service. No customer wants to deal with employees (who willingly chose to work) with attitudes. Management should see the numerous complaints and stop this before it spreads. Looks to me like BJs needs to terminate the management team and...
Read moreHad an issue with order ahead pick up/curbside. Was told a couple hours. Never got my order and it was cancelled after the banks closed, which was really convient. They had no problem taking my money though and now I have no groceries and im out 100 dollars. Was told i could go buy the groceries again if i wanted. Like everyone can just shop for the same groceries twice. They can instanly take my money but now i have to wait for my money back from thier screw up. I called twice and go hung up on the professionalism is the place was literally the worst i have ever experienced. The manager needs to be fired. I explained i did not need a receipt and I just wanted my groceries. I was told there was nothing they could do and I could not get my groceries. Never had my groceries held hostage after I purchased them. I will never order ahead again. I will never get another membership. Make sure they didn't sign you up for EZ Renewal at the self scan check out. This store is a joke. Absoutlely unacceptable behavior from management. Yeah they have robots and they do the job better than...
