I'm posting this review late, as it has been about 3 weeks since I had my dining experience, but it is very important that I recognize the service I was given! I stopped in this Bob Evans location because it was convenient as I was running errands and desperately needed something to eat and a mental health break from the chaos my day had become. I was seated in a booth upon entering by a nice young man, and then SHE happened! (If you've ever been in management or worked in the service industry, you pick up right away on people who serve you.) This waitress was no regular waitress! She was friendly, well-spoken, precise in everything she did! She anticipated exactly every need to go along with my order and just as common courtesy for her customers. I was so stunned by the level of service that I was receiving that I had to ask her work history and complement her on knowing what excellence means in the workplace! Especially being a server. Kalena is literally one of the most conscientious, diligent, and incredibly kind servers I have had in a VERY LONG time! It made my day to see someone so passionate about their job and their customers. Bob Evans always has great food. That's just a given (even though I really miss their mush! 😁), but they have a real diamond working here. Corporate should put her in charge of a training camp for new hires and/or retrain established staff at all their restaurants. This young lady has potential way beyond being a server, but she may just love it, and it's her calling. Either way, Kalena, thank you for giving me faith in the next generation, for giving me excellent service on a really chaotic day, and letting me relax and just enjoy the food and the moment because I didn't have to think, stress, or even ask for so much as an extra napkin. It was the finest of dining at our local Bob Evans! Keep up...
Read moreI visited this location due to convenience of distance from my hotel. I'd never been before this. I 'ate' here Thursday, May 23, 2024. Approx 6:30pm.
When I entered, only four tables were occupied. The hostess sat me quickly. Oddly, I wasn't asked what I'd like to drink, if anything. I was told "your server will be with you shortly".
I waited 25 minutes before the server arrived. She asked what I wanted to drink. I stated "I'll have water please". She then asked what I'd have to eat. "I'll have the country fried steak dinner please". I asked if I could have 'traditional bread' with my meal. She said they only have the bread they make french toast with. I stated "that's fine. I'll have that". She left. 20 minutes later she arrived with my dinner and water. (I had to find her to ask for silverware).
She brought two 'rolls'. They were cold and damp and disgusting in taste. I took one bite and spat it in the napkin. The meal was gross. I could tell it was processed/frozen food. The inside of the single 'steak' was MAYBE room temp. The menu pic showed two steaks. Which in hindsight I'm glad there wasn't two!! The potatoes/gravy had a 'zingy' aftertaste. One bite of those and I was done. The vegetables were like the internal temp of the chicken steak; barley room temp. Yes, I ate what was presented but only because I hadn't eaten since morning. The server never once approached my table after bringing the food. Not once!
I have no idea what happened to the 'downhome' flavor that B.E. has been known for in the past but it definitely is lost. Not to mention, within two hours of eating I became violently ill spending twenty minutes in the bathroom getting sick.!
Definitely not quality food or service...
Read moreIf you are dreaming of some good ol' comfort food, this is the place to come and git it! We live by Lakeside Mall where we are surrounded by restaurants but every once in a while we just have to make the trek to our favorite Bob Evans.
I see there have been some unfavorable reviews but for the past few months we have fortunately, had good service and great food delivered on time. Today mom had her usual comfort food of chicken noodles over mashed potatoes - which was sitting on a biscuit! She needs to gain the weight so I encourage her to eat it all up. I tried something new and found a new favorite in the honey-butter fried chicken with mashed potatoes, corn and of course a biscuit. I think they have the best honey so I always add a little to the top of my biscuit.
The manager was on top of his game making sure everything was cooked properly and people were served on time, he even ran out to the parking lot to give mom her fork she left behind. Mom has Parkinsons and arthritis so I buy her extra large forks and spoons and put a rubber band around the handles so she can grip her food better; thanks manager!
Our server, host and cashier were very efficient, kind and well-groomed (something we can't take for granted anymore).
The place was clean with plenty of comfortable seating options. We...
