Strawberry Fields Restaurant — Restaurant in Chesterfield Township

So went out to dinner tonight and decided at last minute to stop at Strawberry Fields. Have been eating there for years mostly Tuesday nights for their Cheesburger Special and Onion Soup. Have not been there for a while as they have changed owners and it looks pretty ragged on the outside as they are apparently remodeling. So first for the positive comments. The Coke was good. Also the new owners do have Ketchup and Mustard on the table now. The original owners used to give you a small paper cup with mustard and ketchup. That is it, down hill from here. Ordered a Cheesburger and Bowl of French Onion Soup. Abiut 10 minutes later the waitress came out with everything Soup and Dinner. Usually soup is served in advance of main course. Soup was luke warm and bowl was filled withsome sort of crumbled bread which soaked up most of the broth. Very few onions and the broth had way to much wine and salt in it. Had maybe 3 spoonfulls and gave up to move onto the burger. Well that too has changed. The original owners had a hand made 1/2 pound burger nearly 1 inch thick. The burger now 1/4 pound and obviously from some food service company like Gordons. Paper thin and way over cooked. They also forgot to add the cheese. I did eat it and the fries. Fries were the original and good. Cheesburger was one I want to forget about. Told the waitress and another lady presumably the manager came out to see what was wrong. She took my soup off the bill and told me that the burgers are now 1/4 pound. She did apologize for the food, and offered us free desert, but I just wanted to get out of the place. Waitress gave me the bill $21 and change and we gave her $30 and the exact change. She came back a couple minutes late and set the bill folder down on the table and left. I had expected $9 change and there was none. I called her back and said I am happy to tip but when was the last time she got a $9 tip on a $21 Bill. She apologized and gave me $9 back. . I left her $4 about $2 too much and got the hell out of there. This place will be boarded up within 6 months unless they get their act together. I came here a week or two ago, it was a group of five of us we are all young kids 17-20 years old. We wait about 15 minutes to be seated, there was a big party in and a couple booths were filled and the party in the middle but many table were open. Finally we got seated and someone came to take our drink order. Now mind you I work in fast food, I know it gets busy and stuff happens. Anyways she takes our drink orders and then starts helping out with the party. Mind you there are two waitresses workin this party and our waitress is the only one who is taking care of all of the booths. We don’t get our drinks for another ten minutes. When she brings our drinks she take our orders, the food comes out quickly someone from the kitchen brought our food. My friend food was messed up twice but he had to call the manager over the take care of is as our waitress only seems to care about the party that’s happening next to us. Finally the lovely lady who works in the back starts taking care of us. We were there about an hour and a half, I only had 1 tea, my fiancé and is friend both ran out of coffee and both my friends out of tea in the first 15 and no one came to fill is until the lady in the back did.

Where do I even begin. Worst experience ever. Personally, Im a server so I hate being "that guy" with complaints but I did for the first time today. First, the server did not even introduce herself to us; she was not personable at all. She set our drinks down and walked away. She took the next table's order and they got their food BEFORE SHE EVEN CAME TO US TO TAKE OUR ORDER. Finally, over 10 minutes later with our menu's already stacked, she came to us and took our order. TWENTY MINUTES LATER, our cold food finally came out. While waiting for our food, two other tables were sat and got their food before us. Everything was cold, the butter didn't even melt onto my waffles. My boyfriend got corn beef and hash but there was no hash. Around five minutes later when the server finally came out and over to us, I just had to say something. She asked how everything was and I said it was all cold but I waited too long for the food so I'm going to just eat it because I don't want to wait any longer. She brought me out a new waffle and took things off of our bill. The manager was so nice and I explained that I never do that but she insisted it was a good thing because she wants to know what's wrong with the food.
