Stella's Ice Cream - Elkhorn — Restaurant in Chicago Precinct

To preface this review, we went on a Saturday night at 8pm, so likely their busiest time. Most of the time we waited in line there was one girl running the whole show. She was scooping, making shakes, and ringing people up all on her own. Eventually two other girls showed up from the back. One girl was standing texting in the middle of the line, claimed she was texting the manager and got really snippy with another customer in line. Besides the first girl I mentioned, the other two really didn’t seem to know what they were doing and none of them had any sense of urgency. I don’t know if this is their regular way to operate or if we just caught them on a bad night. We will be avoiding this place for a while until hopefully some of the kinks are worked out. Olivia is a rock star! Stands out. Leads team, crew well. Great use of information and personal tastes. Got a napkin, spoon, to go dishes in a bag even a gentle thank you for stopping on tonight. Second experience with owner shed light why sprinkles of service are there. Everything, yes, all I tried was delicious and made with cate, like changing gloves, bagging separately anything dairy from non dairy. Brownies, chewy, gooey excellence, cookies, cookie sundae bowl with three toppings of marshmallow, caramel, chocolate swirls or pick about a dozen dried good like cookie pieces, candy bar bits, sprinkles,nuts...fancy cones, colored cones,dipped bowls, bulldog bowl, popsicles, waffle...

The service was fine.. my issue is that they use latex gloves. Given the abundance of the allergy in general public, and the ready availabity of food safe gloves options, this should never be a concern and I'm thankful I noticed what they were using.

The employee was super apologetic and tried to find non-latex gloves in the back. Even so, I wouldn't feel comfortable eating here regardless due to the cross contamination across all the prep surfaces. It's disappointing, I was unable to get ice cream with my kid and the flavors they had...
