One of our favorite places to spend a summer evening as a family!
We most recently visited on Wednesday, July 17 and had the best experience. There was literally probably 25 to 30 people in line when we arrived, but the line is deceiving and moves very efficiently.
After we got our food, luck was not on our side and my young son's hot dog rolled right onto the ground as he unwrapped it. I went inside to see about purchasing a new one and the manager (I'm assuming?) working was so kind and immediately offered to make is a new one, even making sure the toppings were the same. I tried to pay for it, but he went above and beyond and let us have it! He was so friendly and warm and did not make us feel like we were an inconvenience, even though we were. And it was not on them to replace, but they did! We have always loved this place and now we love it even more!
The kids love to run in the field and sometimes we will bring a ball for them to throw around. Prices are reasonable and well worth, what I am hoping will be, core memories for...
Read moreThere are far & few between retro ice cream & sandwich nostalgia left around the country. So when I found this one similar to one at home, it was a must try for me. Definitely a busy place, as their parking was full & then people parked along the road. Wow! One reason I had to try it was the Pizza Burger, NorthsideDairy Haven is the only place that I know of that offers it. The menu is similar as well. They could be sister businesses seriously. The Pizza Burger was so tasty, along with my chocolate shake & of course Skippys Pup Cup. Tons of people were ordering twisty cones, and the height was like out of this world. Love local family oriented businesses for every generation, who doesn't like ice cream and lunch or dinner. Their staff is very nice & and pushed. Im sure big time when the rushes happen, kudos to you all! I highly recommend this Dairy Chef. There is no way you could be disappointed as it takes me back to my childhood for sure. Big Shout Out to Dairy Chef, I loved your pizza burger! Skippy loved his...
Read moreDairy Queen tries to stand by its "Hot Eats, Cool Treats" mantra, but funnily enough, an Elkhorn institution just a stone's throw away from one blows that concept out of the water.
Want a Reuben? How about a Philly sandwich? Pork tenderloin, fish or roast beef? Dairy Chef has that and more. The ice cream selection is just as varied featuring their famous "storms" (a riff off of DQ's Blizzards). Just like everything else, they one-up DQ as the storms may be a bit pricer, but you get loads more ice cream and toppings for your dollar and the taste is far more natural. They also feature flavors of the week and ice cream sandwiches made fresh.
Between the sandwiches, pizza (yes, pizza), ice cream and everything else on the menu, DC embarrasses every DQ, especially the one all of 3-5 minutes away. They even feature their own root beer! You're doing yourself a disservice not scheduling a trip as soon...
