Geja’s Cafe is the place to visit for a fondue experience you’ll never forget. They’ve been open since 1965 & have been voted the most romantic restaurant multiple times, not only in Chicago but in all of the US. Geja’s is quintessentially Chicago with its upscale tavern style interior & intimate setting. The staff elevated our experience even more by providing thoughtful insight on the history, menu, food, wine, & more. There are also three tables outside where you can dine fireside, adding more to their atmosphere & is perfect for cooler temps. We ordered the 3 course fondue dinner with wine pairings & it was a dream come true. Eating at Geja’s cafe was an experience I won’t soon forget. I’ve in had fondue only once before. About 15 years ago I made it at home with my the girl friend, and now wife. I have to admit that I was a laborious experience and one I have not attempted since. However, our meal at Gaia’s Cafe was so much a fun and with delicious food. First, the atmosphere and experience was amazing. This is called Chicago’s most restaurant for a reason. The lighting it low with red overtones. This creates a intimate experience. It no wonder multiple wedding proposals are made here on a weekly basis. Second the food quality is very good. If you believe they would skip on good food because focus is on the atmosphere, you are wrong. The cheese for the fondue was very flavorful and yummy. Also, the beef tenderloin, shrimp and veggies were high quality and fresh. Third, service is amazing. Our waiter was friendly and had great suggestions for how to cook the the food in the oil. Also, they are very attentive and cleared the table efficiently. It also says something that the bartender we had has been there for 20 years and the owner worked there for 30 years before buying the restaurant. My wife and I were here for one of their wine events. The event feature wine pairings from two wineries in the same region of California. Geja’s had representatives from each winery at the event. It was fascinating hearing details about each winery, how their wine was made and how the region of made their wines special. We also had an opportunity to buy some wine which is not available locally. Over all this was an experience with great food and fun. It is must for date night or if you just love cheese, meat and wine.

Edited 4/2: We dined in for our anniversary again this year and had the most amazing time. This time we tried the cocktails which were delicious (loved the Lavender one!) and the staff hand signed a happy anniversary card for us which was so sweet. The service was amazing, always checking in on us to see how we were doing, and all staff members were so sweet. We enjoyed the Swiss Gruyère fondue with dippables, main course with scallops, shrimp, steak, chicken, lobster, and veggies, and of course the Belgian chocolate fondue for dessert (served flaming to roast marshmallows over) is always incredible. We enjoyed the wine pairings which included 3 wines to pair with the courses. Great addition!! We ended with a hazelnut Liquor coffee drink which was delicious and a great way to end the meal. I left feeling super full, happy, and I can’t wait to come back! I can’t recommend this spot enough - one of my favorites in Chicago!! ———————- One of my FAVORITE restaurants I’ve ever been to!! My boyfriend and I loved the dining experience so much, that we decided to try the take home kabob kit to enjoy. We got the sangrias to start, all 4 kabob varieties (beef, chicken, veggie and shrimp), fingerling potatoes and Mac n cheese on the side, cheese fondue with dippables, and my favorite, the Belgian chocolate fondue with sweets and fruits to dip! P.s. their sauces are all homemade and seriously my favorite!!! It was something that needed to be cooked and reheated so it doesn’t come ready to eat as a heads up, but this was so much fun to share with our friends and a great idea for a night in! Of course if you ever can, make sure to dine in as well 🥰

Where to begin. My lovely partner brought me here for dinner. The ambiance for one. Low light, candle lit tables, live music, everything about Gejas is romantic as advertised. We both got a bottle of red to start which was rich in flavor and was the perfect drink to accompany our meal. We got the Prince Gejas combination. The starter of cheese fondue, breads, fruits was excellent. The bread and cheese combo was so rich, creamy, and savory. Have to mention the salad also, loved the vinaigrette dressing. Onto the main course. The cooking of the food was a blast. Our waiter Gary prepped us on everything we’d need to have a superb meal. My personal favorite was the scallops, they’ve been on my mind since last. But the chicken, beef, lobster did not lack whatsoever. I’m a nerd and used my Apple Watch stopwatch to ensure proper cool times. The main meal was excellent and I would recommend to anyone. For dessert, the chocolate fondue… are you kidding me. Insanely good. S’mores like done on a campfire. The fruits and the chocolate, can’t say enough. Not to mention the little red velvet cake brought out for my birthday. If you’re lucky enough to go on your birthday you’ll have the ultimate wish placer on this cake. We finished off with two signature cocktails, I don’t think there is a drink that you could go wrong with on their menu. In all, this place is can’t miss. If you want the ultimate romantic evening you must come to Gejas. We felt so welcomed and fell in love with the whole experience, most definitely will be back. Thank you Gejas staff for all you do.
