China Moon Cafe — Restaurant in Chickasha

Let's start with the atmosphere. The dining area is absolutely beautiful. It is clean and nicely decorated. The staff is also very polite. I think that is where my compliments stop. The buffet is closed and it is used by staff to serve soups and sauces and things. The sodas were in bottles, no fountain drinks, so no free refills. No pre-sweetened tea, only unsweetened and sugar packets (fine, but some people don't like that so that's why I bring it up). Prices are very high, almost double other places, for the same thing/same amount. Egg rolls were small, about half the size of other places. We got the wanton appetitizers, and they were definitely not what was expected. Not necessarily bad, but different. The sauce was overly salty and too many red pepper flakes, not what I am used to coming with my wantons, but I at least tried to use it several times before giving up. The egg roll was good even though it was very small. The orange chicken was labeled as spicy on the menu and wasn't what we would consider spicy. It had some heat to it but not enough really. The broccoli was bland and plain, no seasoning whatsoever. While the waitresses were all very polite and kind, they were also very slow. Also it seemed like the busier they got the harder it was for some to keep up with their tables. I had high hopes for this place and was sadly...

Our 2nd visit to China Moon was on Saturday for lunch. We came back because it was SO GOOD the 1st time! We made a special trip to drive from the OKC Metro to visit this 2nd time, and it was GREAT again! The lunch combo specials ARE available on Saturday (as well as weekdays).

If you are looking for a typical, Chinese buffet (fried stuff, vegetables cooked beyond recognition, egg drop soup that is artificially yellow and too thick, etc.), then don't come to China Moon! But if you LIKE vegetables and want REAL FLAVOR in dishes prepared FRESH to order, you will be happy here!

We had Kung Pao Chicken and Moo Goo Gai Pan, and both dishes were just outstanding! Jimmy (the cook) obviously takes pride in what he is doing! VERY fresh vegetables were cooked JUST RIGHT. The dishes were distinct and very flavorful. Steamed rice was perfect. Egg roll was ordinary, but good. Egg drop soup was GOOD, prepared like it should be! Quantities were just fine; we ate all we wanted and brought a little home from both dishes. Whitley was our server, and she did so well taking care of us. We will definitely be back. Chickasha...

We went to The China Moon on Saturday evening. We were surprised they had no buffet but were content to order from the menu. Jer ordered the Mongolian Pork and believed he ordered the combination but hadn't specified combination and was told so when he questioned the server. I ordered the Hot & Spicy Beef asking if it came with broccoli and reassured it did. When our food was served it was hot and delicious but when I asked for my broccoli I was told that it didn't come with my meal and the server had been mistaken when he assured me that it did. I'm not sure if our server was afraid we couldn't afford to eat or if he was new or maybe overwhelmed with the two tables he was serving but we received no refills of our soda from him, (another employee did refill Jer's soda when requested). The food we did receive was a good portion and fresh. Although we did not leave starving, we were disappointed at the lack of the soup, eggrolls and broccoli we believed we would enjoy with our meals, even if they had come at...
