I've had the vegetarian and the chicken pesto sandwich from here. Both were excellent sandwiches. Fresh ingredients and made well. The chicken pesto is one of my favorites from here so far. It is more like a chicken pesto salad sandwich, so if you like pesto and chicken salad (the chicken is really juicy mixed with tasty pesto, so not a chicken salad in that it has other non-chicken ingredients, but it is like a pesto chicken salad, if that makes sense), then I recommend the chicken pesto sandwich. I get the balsamic dressing on the side because it makes the bread soggy, and I've never liked soggy bread. The fresh mozzarella that comes with the chicken pesto sandwich is sliced thick and is amazing. I recommend this place, especially the chicken pesto sandwich. I think the chicken pesto sandwich is called the chicken caprese on the menu. Employees are friendly and professional.

Update 12/21: The staff that was terrible at customer service has been replaced. Furthermore the sandwich's have not had any sauce issues in multiple consecutive orders since posting my original review. It's safe to say everything I had issue with has been fixed. I would also say that they give you a solid amount of ingredients for what you pay for. Great job turning things around guys. Appreciate it! Terrible service, and the sandwich was oozing with mayo. Mayo was oozing out of the bread in every spot when I took a bite so I had to break the sandwich apart to scoop it out. Disgusting. Ended up throwing almost half of it away I'm sick to my stomach as I write this review. Not sure why the other reviews are so high. I live around the corner so I was hoping this could be my new go to spot for after the gym. Extremely disappointed.

I guess I'm on a deli sandwich quest. I tried Great Harvest Bread last week and was disappointed at the skimpy portion of meat and only sliced bread as an option. I picked up lunch from The Redwood Sandwich yesterday, and I'm happier with the bread situation... the ciabatta roll was incredible! They are very accommodating of customizations: ingredient swaps, toasted or grilled bread, etc. I ordered the California Club, and while it includes bacon and a thin layer of avocado, one slice of turkey felt a little insulting at $14.66. Overall, it was a delicious flavor combo but I'm still not sure I'd put this in my regular rotation based on what I value as an ideal deli sammy.

TL;DR One of the best sandwich shops in town as long as you don't like to customize your order. If you do you tend to get the right thing about 1 every 5 visits. The rest of the time you could have any possible combo of ingredients on there.

I really wish I could give this place 5 stars because when it's good, it's GOOD. The problem is that it's so inconsistently good that you never know what kind of day it's going to be. I've been eating here every couple weeks for several months now because even when it's bad, it's at least tolerable and I wanted to get back to my first experience again. If you order a sandwich from them with no customization, you're almost guaranteed an amazing sandwich. However if you make any changes to the sandwich it's time to cross your fingers. I've ordered the same sandwich and bread combo (Turkey Cranberry on Toasted Sliced Sourdough, no onion or pickles) every time, and almost every single time it's been handed over with something different changed. Once it came with the onion and pickles on it, but no lettuce? The next time it came with onions on it but it was missing pickles and tomato?! And various combos between. I ordered the same sandwich for lunch and they actually got all the insides correct!...but the bread was wrong and grilled so it was extremely soggy and fell apart the second it was picked up.

Customer service is great when ordering or standing around waiting on your order. The restaurant looks clean from what I can tell. All it needs is for the owner, who is always friendly for what it's worth, to get the staff to slow down a tiny bit and verify orders. I really hope I get the chance to change this review...

Went to this sandwich shop for the first time today and will never go back. A friend and I ordered a half sandwich and soup, we were told by the girl taking the order (who was obviously new and had to call manager over to help find item on register) there was a free side included so we chose our sides. We got our order to go and took the drive home, as we go to get out of the car we realize there is no soups so drive back. As i tell the guys since the girl is nowhere to be seen that we had soups that we were not provided the manager shoots me a dirty look and sends out another guys to tell me how im wrong that it was soup OR side and I got my little bag of chips and my friend got his small cold salad....(each of us spent $13+ with fountain drink) and I should of known the information told to us was incorrect. Reluctantly they provided the soup all while the manager said nothing beyond the many dirty looks. Oddly the place when we returned smelled heavily of a gas leak though it had not when we initially were there. They seems to have no interest in my concern when I mentioned this. Sandwiches were decent but definitely not good enough to be worth 13.25 for a fountain drink half a veggie sandwich and small bag of chips. The soup was good and if it hadn't been so ridiculous of them to send us off without it the experience may have not been so unsatisfactory. Horrible manager made sure that was last time we do more than walk by...

Let me start by saying, I’m not a sandwich person. 98% of the time I make better sandwiches than any store or deli I’ve been to this far. That being said, I am ADDICTED to this place!! The staff are so friendly and fun and kind, and the food is amazing. My dad has always said “if a sandwich doesn’t drip, it’s not worth it” and I subscribe to this philosophy- so if you want dry sandwiches, edit them accordingly.

Chicken caprese sandwich- this is the first sando I ever got here and this is what reeled me into this place. Get it on sliced sourdough buttered/grilled! And add some extra balsamic. Tomato soup- OH MY GAWWWWWWD now every time I go there I have to ask if they have it and bring some home for later. BBQ tri tip- absolutely delicious Tri tip/blue- recommend taking out the spring greens, they get soggy.

Now here is the best trick for us tri tip people: order a BBQ tri tip, ADD blue cheese sauce, blue cheese crumbles and avocado on your grilled sourdough. I legit can’t get anything else now. I keep coming back for this. It’s amazing. Every time I wanna take a picture I forget because I’m hungry and end up scarfing down my sando. The other places in Chico for sandwiches that have been recommended to me by people or doordash don’t even come close to...
